good picture

Matt M., Newegg
8 November 2008
  • Pros: Good picture, good price. Speakers are really good to.
  • Cons: The remote, or receiver on the TV, sucks. You have to aim it perfectly at the IR receiver on the tv, then usually press the numbers at least 2 times. And there is long delay when pushing any of the buttons on the remote, like 4 sec. This is the only reason for the low rating though, if you have t...

NICE LOOKING TV, IMPOSSIBLE TO SET COLORS!

Anonymous, Newegg
18 August 2008
  • Summary: Newegg promptly send a RMA for the item to be exchanged.
  • Pros: Easy to understand settings. Incredible sound!
  • Cons: When you tune into a "viewable" channel, you must admire the clear and sharp images. The problem is to set all the channels to be watched the same way. Impossible task. Not even ViewSonic tech support can figure out this problem. Clear picture, dark background: unable to balance colors. Great sou...

Great TV/Monitor

Christopher A., Newegg
19 December 2007
  • Pros: Crisp clear picture, used as my main monitor and works great. Tv stations also look clear, HD channels very nice. No dead pixels and no problems.
  • Cons: If I had to pick something I'd say the length of time its taking to get my rebate but I kinda expected that.

Channel changer buttons broken

Anonymous, Newegg
15 December 2007
  • Pros: Picture is good--no problems noted except one.
  • Cons: Bought the refurbished unit and saved a bunch but the channel changer button does not work. I can select channels on the remote by entering the numbers but the up and down buttons on the TV and the remote do nothing. It's a drag.

Warning!!

Ronald L., Newegg
2 October 2007
  • Pros: None unless you absolutely cannot afford a Sony (re. Cons).
  • Cons: Numerous cons. For anyone familiar with gray ramps (i.e. 21 step gray bar for designers) this is just one of the ways that you can accurately assess as to whether you are capable of seeing all of the subtlies in the highlights and shadow regions. This LCD blows out the highs and looses the darks....

Minor problems offset by great price!

Anonymous, Newegg
27 September 2007
  • Summary: This model, in keeping with ViewSonic's reputation on PC monitors, comes with PC drivers on the CD that has the manual. Nice touch.
  • Pros: Bought this unit for my mother after replacing some lightning damaged units with newer format. The picture is superb, setup is dirt simple. Having some connection issues but not because of this TV. Ended up upgrading whole system. Retail on this is $600, we got it w/rebate for $400. Can't ask for...
  • Cons: As with many companies these days, the manuals are less than stellar. Manual for this is in PDF format on a CD, and while not as detailed as I would like wasn't too bad once I got it printed out. Caused a bit of delay in hooking things up though.

User Review

Ken W., Newegg
17 September 2007
  • Summary: .
  • Pros: Very compact with a sharp picture. Nice controls from the remote, looks good and has a pretty nice sound for contained speakers.
  • Cons: Needs to be adjusted to your enviroment. The pre-sets just don't set the picture up right. the remote controls seem to have a lag effect and you have to wait for the monitor to respond

Not good

Mark S., Newegg
13 September 2007
  • Pros: Not too expensive
  • Cons: Very very critical as to viewing angle, especially the vertical axis. Very poor black level with hard to adjust shadows. Maybe it would work for a computer monitor due to the naturally limited viewing axis but as a LCD TV I would say to not waste your time or money. Also I have found no way (in T...
