Summary: I initially bought a 56hm168. Within one year, both the lamp exploded (glass all over) AND the light engine died. Toshiba replaced the TV with a 57hm167. A year and a half later - the light engine dies - and this time it is out of warranty. This is a totally different TV, with different production runs, and both have had light engine failures. Cost to repair (if you do it yourself) is $932 for the part. If you have a tech come out and do it, well over $1000.
Summary: As a wide screan TV goes, I am very happy with it. The picture is one of the best I have seen. The sound quality could be a lot better. I have a surround system which is the best way to watch the TV and do it justice as the sound quality W/O theS.S .is only fair. The TV has a lot of hook-up's on the back as well as one on the side for hooking up an extenal item quickley. Had a problem with the bulb in the unit but was able to correct problem over the phone.
Summary: I purchased this Television from wegotbetterdeals off ebay. They advertised it as Factory Refurbished. I could'nt tell that it was Refurbished it looks New and works perfect with a unbeatable price tag. I would buy from them agian. I do most of my large Purchases from ebay with papal the two names i have become too trust through the years of buying with them.
Summary: I was hesitant to buy a refurbished item when making a relatively large purchase, but this tv is great. It seems brand new. Very easy to install/hookup. Great HD picture and easily hooked up to surround sound. Highly recommended.
Summary: The picture is great, especially in HD. The TV arrived with a broken mirror and scratched screen, but the repairs were handled by the Toshiba warranty with no problems. The sound system is somewhat less than expected, but I have a surround sound system hooked up through an amp so no big deal. Great TV at a great price. The service after the sale was very good and the followup by the warehouse that shipped the TV was excellent.
Summary: I ordered this TV with an HD DVD player and an HDMI cable and I am very happy with the entire experience. I got a great deal on everything and shipping was very fast. I received all three items on the same day, barely a week after I placed the order. The picture is very good. I will definitely look to Overstock.com for future electronics purchases!
Summary: Got it in Aug. 2007, wish I would have looked here first. I didn't use it much, mostly for games and movies, not much television-watching. Tried to turn it on last night, and the screen wouldn't turn on. Eventually got a pattern of led's on the front panel that indicated lamp not working (a yellow led with red flashing). There was also a voice that came from the television that said "Lamp not working" heh.
Summary: I can't write a glowing enough review for this tv. Yes, I have a few minor quibbles... Silk Screen Effect being the only one of significance (not that significant, really) but all in all, this is a fantastic set. Accepts a 1080p/24 input (reframes to 60, but does an impeccable job) means you can watch the new Hi-Def movie formats as they were meant to be seen. Standard definition tv when moved to the 4:3 format is tolerable.
Summary: This tv has great picture quality, though not quite as good as some of the other top tier tvs in the same segment, the price more then makes up for that being a few hundred dollars cheaper. I have all three consoles hooked up and all look great. Blu-Ray on the PS3 looks great specially if you use HDMI. Also, until recievers have more HDMI hook ups, this tv has enough to hold you over with three. Unfortunately, non HD sources don't look quite a good.
Summary: We got the TV on Oct 04, 07 and it stopped working the next day we tried it on. The lamp went completely dead. We are returning this Toshiba TV right now. No hesitations. You just can not tolerant the fact that after spending $1200 on a TV, it is broken directly out of the box!!! Don't buy this, unless you want to find trouble.
