Toshiba 47L7200U Review

3 September 2012
  • Conclusion: Although Toshiba’s L7200U series lacks some features of the competition’s top-tier televisions, its picture performance matches that of more expensive models. The L7200U’s strongest attributes are its brightness and color production; its weak points are its edge-light bleed in the corners and limited selection of apps.
  • Pros: Superior brightness, Excellent color, Great remote control, Attractive design and price
  • Cons: Limited selection of Internet apps, Edge-light bleeding from the corners, Highly reflective screen

Toshiba's best LED TV is not a good value

2 September 2012
  • Summary: Toshiba's L7200U LED TV comes loaded with features, but mediocre picture quality makes its high price tough to stomach.
  • Pros: The Toshiba L7200U series LED TV has good video processing and its passive 3D system shows almost no crosstalk. The Web browser actually works fairly well, in part thanks to the included wireless QWERTY keyboard. The TV's well-stocked feature set also includes a unique program guide and cable box control, as well as four pairs of 3D glasses. Sleek external styling exudes plenty of high-end appeal.
  • Cons: Poor shadow detail and contrast in dark areas leads to disappointing image quality for such an expensive TV. Color accuracy wasn't up to the competition, and uniformity suffered from brighter edges and visible backlight structure. Passive 3D showed occasional artifacts and moving lines. The EPG and box control features are limited, and the Smart TV suite has less content than most.

  • Conclusion: Toshiba's very good looking L7200 3D LED HDTV line delivers accurate colors and nice, dark blacks. And you get some neat features, but backlight uniformity issues hold this series back from true greatness.
  • Pros: Beautiful design. Accurate colors. Good black levels. Wide viewing angles.
  • Cons: Patchy screen uniformity. Backlight seepage. Limited web apps.
