Summary: Same issue as described by other reviews. Unit had great picture but after 24 months rainbow of colors covered left half of screen, rendering it useless. Have had decent success w/ Toshiba in past but this is last Toshiba purchase for us.
Summary: Purchased this product because of the body design and previous good review from a television tech. Like many people, I'm sure, the cabinet would only allow so much space and this was the largest screen we could find to fit inside. Same problem as everybody else. Rainbow colored lines cover half of the screen. Seemed to disappear after it warmed up at first, however now they never go away. Will never purchase another toshiba ANYTHING again.
Toshiba REGZA Picture Problems with left side of screen

Summary: I purchased a Toshiba REGZA 40RF350U Super Narrow 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV about 2 years ago. Almost immediately after using it a 4 inch (or so) band appeared on the left side of the screen. This band is lighter than the rest of the screen. Although annoying, we tolerated the band so we would not have to deal with the typical troubles that come with dealing with repairs under warranty.
Summary: I feel a little better reading the reviews only because I thought I was the only one that got a crappy TV. Same exact things. It started with a line on the lower right of the screen, about four inches up. Then, the entire left side of the screen crapped out with lines and random colors. Just like the others, about an hour on it seems to warm up and recover the left side of the screen but, obviously, this is not acceptable. Mine is headed for the landfill...
Summary: I purchased this set on February 6, 2008 from a Circuit City in Green Bay, Wi., solely because of the narrow bezel. I have purchased other Toshiba products in the past and was always very happy with my purchase. Up until 2 weeks ago I was completely happy with it. Then I noticed the left 4 inches or so was lighter than the remainder of the screen.
Summary: Stay away from this TV unless you plan to throw it away in 18 months. I purchased this TV in March of 2008 and by September 2009, when the TV reaches operating temperature, the whole left half of the screen degenerates in to multicolored lines, making it totally unwatchable. I have to say that when the TV is cold it looks fantastic, but only being able to watch it for 30 minutes at a time detracts from the value in this purchase.
Summary: I will now add my comment to all the others about how soon my set also crapped out in about 22 months. I was very pleased with set when I first got it, it fit the space in my cabinet just fine and the picture and sound was very good up till now. Like many others I have gotten nothing but the run around from Toshiba since it is out of warranty. I have the same problem mentioned in a lot of the after the fact reviews.
Summary: We bought this tv in January 2008. It seemed like a great value and we loved it for a while. However, about 15 months after purchasing the tv the left side of the tv got vertical lines on it. It takes at least 20 minutes for the lines to go away after it is warmed up. Until then, you can only see the right half of the tv. Our tv also has areas on both sides that are lighter than the inside frame.
Summary: Brought this TV October 2007 because it fit perfectly in my built-in cabinet. A small black line appeared in June on the right side 4 inches from the border. Now the rest of that 4 inch gap has vertical, random color lines from top to bottom that cover the entire portion of the screen. HD is now unwatchable. Luckily the gap is just outside 480P in width. Toshiba pointed me to a local repair guy, "Sorry, your screen is blown, $800-$1000 will be the cost.
Summary: Brought this TV about a year and a half ago. About 3 months ago a small line appeared on the left side of the TV a couple of inches from the side. Annoying, but watchable. Toshiba has issued a extended warranty for the 46 inch version, but not for the 40inch, so they will do nothing about the issue. To top it off, a couple weeks ago the tv started having vertical lines appear on the whole left hand side of the screen, which basically makes the tv unwatchable.
