Summary: When I bought this TV I was expecting same HD quality as other Toshiba TV that I bought. While it was indeed high definition, the picture quality was very sub-par, almost to the point that my eyes get sore after watching the screen for a while. The problem with this TV is that it is very dim. After doing some research, I found out that this was due to the "Energy Saving Setting".
Summary: I read some reviews before buying this one, and even though I knew it wouldn't be the best tv, it really dissapointed me. The Remote Control is trash, the tv response is slow when turning it on, changing inputs, etc. Mine, had some weird lights in the background that wouldn't let me see movies in dark environment. It was a shame. It is OK for its price, but thing twice on spending 50-100 more to get a way better samsung tv. That's what I did.
Summary: Purchased another lower end 40 inch Toshiba three years ago and it was excellent, so I recently bought this one for my daughter. In order to keep the price very low, Toshiba has apparently reduced the quality. The blacks are very grey; the "vibrant" colors are somewhat dull; overall brightness does not come close to our other hdtv's; and it lacks the crisp focus you expect. It is what I expect of an off brand, not of Toshiba.
