Summary: 42" TCL TV purchased SEPT 29, 2012 developed vertical lines in screen May 2013. Warranty support was OK'd with a picture of screen and proof of purchase. A UPS box for TV with prepaid shipping label showed up for warranty repair (good). Two weeks later I've been told the TV will be replaced, but the repair center is waiting for the availability of a replacement TV. ... still no refurbished 42" TV available.
Summary: Well, the price was great, some people said it looked more high end then it is... etc etc And yes, the design is good, and the picture looks great.....WHEN IT WORKS. It works 80% of the time, but who wants something that works 80% of the time. A few days after installing it started to get a solid vertical white bar on the right side of the screen when it was first powered up. It would disappear after a minute or two.
Summary: I bought the 39" 6 months ago. Liked it so much I received the 42" version a week ago. No problems with either one. The 42" does have some perks over the the 39". 42" has better sound, more ports. Both have a sleep function on the remote which I really like and do use alot. Both Verizon and AT&T installers have been surprised at how quickly the picture refreshes when using their remote...I have nothing to compare it to, but they were truly surprised, in a good way.
Summary: I understand there is "fine print" and all. I got this television for my 74 year old mother and 80 year old father. At first, great, than within about 2 months it just quit. So, no my 74 year old mom has had to spend endless hours with what they call tech support. After waiting about a week or two some parts arrived.
Summary: I was very scepticle of buying this brand of T.V. especially buying a T.V. over the internet. I was for sure I would have had some trouble when I got it and found that the boxing looked like someone had taken a flippin sludghammer to it. I was surprised to open it and find no scratches or anything on it and got it out and assembled pretty easily just needed a second person to hold the base up while i scewed it in.
Summary: Bought this TV for Christmas and it worked great, really superb picture and sound was very pleased... until the inputs, all the inputs HDMI, AV, PC all of them ceased working after 3 days. I will spare you the full details of the customer service nightmare, suffice it to say after 3 hours I was still unable to speak with anyone at TCL that could help me, I was given a phone number of "second level" support that never answered and that was that.
Summary: I admit I never heard of this company before November 2012. The first was a technology review of TCL televisions: TCL is the 5th largest manufacturer of televisions in the world. Based out of China. In 2013 the company will be entering USA more, partnering with retail stores. They use Samsung screens and parts. It's indeed a SLIM TV. AND it comes with a TWO year Warranty! The website lists warranty stores via your location. The TV comes packaged well.
Summary: Love this TV... did a TON of research and talked with another friend who also owns this TV, decided to buy it and I LOVE IT!!! Have gotten a TON of compliments and love the way both the TV and the picture looks. I'm a photographer and use this for photo slideshows in my studio. No TV is ideal for slideshows but this does a good job with a little tweaking of accurately duplicating colors etc.
