Summary: I purchased this TV in Feb 2012 because it had the largest screen for the price. It worked fine for 3 months. Then it suddenly refused to recognize any of the inputs - so no DVD player could be hooked up to it. I thought maybe this was just bad luck - some products will be defective in a large production run. However, it's the so-called 'warranty service" that's the problem now. It supposedly has a 2 yr. warranty.
Summary: I purchased this TV on the 5th of March, 3 months later, to the exact day, it decided to stop working. I was watching TV in the afternoon when it just decided to shut off. Tried to turn it back on with no luck, plugged it into three other outlets and did a hard reset to no avail. Onto the customer service, I called on July 6th only to be greeted by a woman who was speaking very broken English.
Summary: I had bought a T.V as a gift for my sister for her first house, and when she opened and install the T.V.,it didn't work at all, the buttons on the T.V. frame didn't work as well, there was no picture or sound. She called the technician, they couldn't help as well. I am so sad that my sister had to go through so much trouble to find out what is wrong with the T.V.
Summary: The Good "I purchase from AMAZON" The Bad "TCL 40 Inch Television" The Ugly "TCL Service Dept." TCL L40FHDF12TA 40-Inch 1080p 60 Hz LCD HDTV with 2-Year Warranty Like everyone else I was sold by the positive reviews. Amazon shipped fast and it was hanging on the wall in a couple of days. Worked great for 5 days! On Saturday started to develope white lines. Called customer service on Saturday. CLOSED! Called on Monday from work to get some ideas on things to try.
Summary: I'm 64 years old and have set up many TV's in my lifetime. This one by far was the easiest ever. It has undoubtedly the clearest, most understandable instructions ever and is a virtual breeze to set up. Even with Super Saver Shipping Amazon delivered the well packaged television very fast. Easy to unpack. Sturdy, easy to mount base by simply attaching 4 screws. The remote control is well organized and easy to use. The sleep timer is awesome.
Summary: bought this to replace a dead old 18in lcd computer monoitor for playing games watching streaming video it works better than i had hoped for. for the price ( $320 ish when i purchased it ) there was nothing even close to this. i can't comment on the audio .. i haven't tried it yet , i have this hooked up to my desktop via a hdmi cable from my geforce 460 picture quality is great barely notice a difference in color when comparing to other computers 20in led monitor.
Summary: I now understand why this TV is averaging 4.5 stars. I'll admit I had my reservations about buying the TCL brand TV but all I can say is that I am incredibly happy with the TV and all of its features. One thing that came as somewhat of a surprise is the built in guide that will only allow you to see the upcoming shows on the station you are watching but was again one of the added unknown benefits.
Summary: The sound is very good on this tv. The picture quality is also surprisingly good. Through research I found out that Samsung makes the screens. If this is true that would explain it. Takes some tweaking of the settings if your picky if not between the multiple factory presets you'll find one for your taste. Great TV!!
Summary: With some reluctance I purchased this "off-brand" TV. Was originally going to get a Samsung or LG. Turns out to be a fantastic TV! Paid $299 with free shipping. Still can't get over how vivid and clear the picture is. TV was easy to set up and has plenty of HDMI inputs. Even has an input for a computer which I recently hooked up to a laptop. Also use with a Roku video streaming box.
Summary: I was skeptical about this $320 TV. So I did research. There is a reason that this is the #1 selling TV on Amazon.com. First, one of the user photos shows that the panel is made by Samsung. In my research I found that TCL is the parent company of RCA. TCL is the branding they used on other continents while using RCA in the US. I guess the TCL brand has come to America now.
