Sony MFM-HT75W Review

5 April 2005
  • Conclusion: The brightness button cycles through PC, movie, and game presets; we did most of our work in the middle, finding PC mode a bit dim and game mode -- the maximum 450 nits -- too bright for anything except spotting monsters in the shadows. An "auto" mode uses what Sony calls ErgoBright technology to adjust brightness based on ambient light, though it usually seemed too dim to our liking.
  • Pros: A gorgeous, widescreen LCD monitor/TV with a full array of PC and TV inputs and simple viewing and picture-in-picture controls
  • Cons: Premium price; glossy XBrite screen a bit reflective or glare-prone in bright light
