Summary: Pros: -- One of the best picture quality in LED TV's for 2012 -- Been using since 2 yrs, still better than most of TV's released in 2014 -- Sony styling, thin profile Cons: -- SmartTV features not par with Samsung or LG -- Takes time when you turn TV ON
Summary: I was once a proud owner of Sony's HX750 hdtv and thought it matched up well with the 850. Well I have learned a big lesson when I purchased the HX850 and that is don't put foot in mouth and jump the gun. In every category the HX850 is far superior to the HX750 and dare I say it superior to the HX929,950 and yes even Panasonic's top end plasma's! Out of the box PQ was beautiful but after using Cnet's setting's they were even better.
Pros: Beautiful Monolithic Design, Excellent PQ and Black Level's, Excellent 3D.
Summary: The picture is fine, but about 9 months in it started to develop reddish vertical striping. Dealing with Sony Customer Not Service is a nightmare. Systems down, phone lines not working, you name it. When I bought the product I got a typical 2 person delivery team to set up the product, make sure it is working etc. Sony wants to send it by Fed Ex. I don't want one Fed Ex guy handling the tv.
Summary: After comparing, trying, enjoying the 3D feature w/glasses; we realized that Sony, is extremely hard to beat, or settle for less! We're definitely sold on this widescreen TV, of high caliber, complete w/Gorilla glass! Thank you...SONY!!
Summary: This is an amazing TV set. I bought it Used LIKE New, had the white glove service set up. My wife and son let the tech in early one morning, and by the time I got up dressed and brushed my teeth the whole thing was set up and running on ESPN! What a Birthday present!!!
Summary: I'd like to thank all of the Amazon reviews for steering me in the right direction with this purchase. This television is simply remarkable. I must say that I was reluctant to purchase another LED because CNET makes you feel like you're committing a mortal sin if you don't purchase a Panasonic Plasma. No matter what TV I researched on CNET videos, they always found a way to mention the Panasonic Plasma. Looking up a Samsung... "this Samsung TV is a good TV...
Summary: I purchased this for my parents, and it is just a stunning set! The picture is bright without being glaring, the definition of the images is superb and the motion is clean without artifacts. Dad likes his golf, and I have never seen it prettier on a TV set than with this unit. Excellent purchase!
Summary: I received my KDL-55HX850 as a refurb replacement from Sony for my 10-month-old KDL-55HX820. I had wierd problems with the HX820 almost from the start, but I couldn't pin down the source of the problem. Finally about four weeks ago, it just shut down and started blinking a two red LED pattern. Power Board problem. Of course as it was late Sunday night, Sony Support was closed.
Excellent TV If you take the time to learn what it can do.

Summary: OK I love this TV; however if you are more into a smarter "Internet TV" as a higher priority I say Samsung 8000 series. Also if you expect sound out of this unit you might as well be either deaf or have a tin ear. Sound bars? eh maybe... I am an audio engineer so we did a full sound install, but that is another story. Now for the good: Dollars for donuts this is the best TV out there.
