Summary: Bought this TV brand new from one of the Best Buy closing out sales. I must say I am shocked at how everyone seems to be having so many problems with getting Netflix to work on this TV. I got Netflix up and running immediately along with the Hulu. This televisions contrast ratio is amazing, you can always tell a difference between the colors, especially the dark scenes vesus the very light scenes. Definitely has a clear image and is really great for gaming.
Summary: The picture is all I could ask for. The sound is inferior to that from a few models back, when the set had a clear glass border and the speakers faced forward — then, only a subwoofer was needed to round out the excellent sound — but if you plan to run the sound through your stereo or home theater, it's not an issue.
Summary: Sony, like other manufacturers of TVs, has condensed its product lines. If there are any of these sets left, get one. Only the larger sizes are made with the quality level of the EX640 now. The wireless USB adapter has an extension so you can mount it far enough away from the TV that it actually works. The Netflix app lets you search for movies, which older Netflix interfaces didn't.
Summary: I'm very pleased with this TV so far. However, I have had it up and running for only a little over a day, and I should caveat my comments by pointing out that I have not yet had a chance to give it a full and fair trial on its HD capabilities because I haven't made the appropriate arrangements with my cable company (Charter) yet. Assembly was fairly quick, and the instructions were adequate.
Summary: The physical TV itself is fine, everything it is touted to be. I am very happy with the picture quality, sound, inputs/outputs, etc. Setting up Nexflix was easy. However when trying to setup Amazon steaming, the connection never finished. Amazon kept showing that the TV was registered, however the TV kept saying it wasn't able to connect.
Summary: I agree with the top reviewer on "great tv, awful sound." This TV has absolutely amazing picture and the features are incredible as far as the smart TV goes. My husband was deployed when I bought the TV, and he came home and fell in love with it. However, after a couple weeks of playing Halo4 on it and watching movies, he was convinced we needed surround sound.
Summary: We are enjoying this TV to the max. The backlit images are just beautiful to watch. Sound quality is OK. It is easy to set it up with wireless connection. The only problem that I have is with the remote - the navigation button (down) and home button are so close the we get out of Netflix when we meant to select something else on the screen. Overall. an excellent buy.
Summary: The picture quality on this TV was as good or better than the next up Sony TV we saw in the store, and for a lower price. Considering that it doesn't have local dimming, the blacks are pretty dark, and we haven't noticed any areas where the backlight shines through unevenly. There are also settings that allow you to set it so that it doesn't look like you're watching a jittery soap opera (as in the early 120 Hz LCD TVs).
