Summary: I bought this 50" LCD 1080P TV to replace my approx. 5 year old 46" Sony Bravia that stopped accepting in put from my Apple TV. The Sony 50" is actually physically smaller and much lighter.
Pros: Physically very streamlined to fit a 50" 16:9 HDTV screen into a cabinet. Very good blacks and detailed picture. Screen surface not excessively reflective. Light weight and very compact chassis.
Cons: Annoying app-centric home screen when turning on TV; must use Sony remote to get to TV signal or other inputs. Too aggressive auto dimming in dark scenes Thant must be tweaked in setup. Not really enough brightness headroom. Default set up sends your viewing data to Sony; takes work to opt-out.
Summary: Really am enjoying this TV. Has a wonderful picture and is straightforward to use. I am fairly wedded to the Android universe so this TV's operating system fits right in and allows me to use some already owned Google Play apps (like Plex).
Pros: Great picture Android OS
Cons: Initial software update took a long time and was somewhat confusing in that I couldn't use the apps during the update
Summary: This 3D TV is sleek and thin, which I love since this is going in the bedroom for us. I wanted something that looked good and would sit practically flush against the wall when I mounted it. Sony is a great buy and beautiful.
Summary: great picture easy to use. Problem is when I have the volume below 15, I hear white noise along with the voices on the program I'm watching. Someone please advise. Other than that it's a great TV. Volume overall is lousy.

Summary: This Sony KDL-W800B series is a classy television with excellent color and shadow detail, but in pure bang-for-buck terms, its black level can be bettered for much less or a fuller feature set offered by something like this LG shown here: http://amzn.to/1TzE3Th which is also 50-inch and 1080p and...
Even though I like everything else about his TV I will be returning it

Summary: I bought this TV after looking at others and because the box advertises that this TV can use the Playstation Now feature. When I could not find the Playstation Now icon I called Sony and was told that the Android TV's do not yet support the feature even though the box clearly states it does.
