Summary: Bought this several years back as a family christmas gift and have never regretted it. My parents and sister have the same TVs. The color is fabulous and the picture is sharp. Have used it with satellite and cable tv and the pictures are great. The HD is just amazing. I chose this after watching other TVs and found this to be worth the price.
Summary: I have owned this television since February 2009. The TV's date stamp is January 2009. I was researching a strange 'popping' sound I hear intermittently when the television is off (and has been overnight) and decided to post because of the multiple negative reviews. I have never had a single problem with the set. The panel is still glorious with no noticeable degradation.

The Sony Bravia 46in. HDTV LCD TV is definitely high quality!

Excerpt: The Sony Bravia KDL-46W4100 HDTV LCD TV is a must buy. My family loves this television. We looked at televisions for over a year and a half before we purcahsed this TV. We have now owned it for about six months. I do not know why we did not but this television sooner. Its large screen makes us feel like we are at the movies everytime we watch TV, yet the flat design takes up little space. The picture quality is fantastic. You can see every detail with outstanding...
Excerpt: I absolutely love this TV! Took less than a week to get used to the bigger screen (had 35" conventional before) which I loved. Bought the Sony KDL-46W4100 in a package (Blu-ray, receiver, 5 speakers) which made the deal even better. The picture quality is excellent. Extremely happy with it!
Excerpt: I have to say, I'm not much of a TV person, but you can't deny that this TV is fantastic!! My husband had his eye on this TV for about a year and then we finally decided to get it. And now that we've had it for a year, I could not see having another TV. When I go over to other people's homes and see the smaller TV's, I realize how nice our TV really is. And when we watch the NFL football games (Go Steelers!), it's almost like you're there.
Sony needs to add this model to their recall LCD panels go out
6 February 2012
Summary: We bought this tv on August 31, 2008 and after 2 years there started to be vertical lines. After about another year the tv got to be unwatchable. We had a tech out and they said we needed a new LCD panel. Sony has recalled the XBR's from the same year for bad LCD panels. They refuse to add this to their recall, yet if you search consumer report or any sites with reviews you will find this problem is quite common. We now have a 58" LG and have for over a year and love it.
Summary: I bought the KDL-46W4100 LCD TV and paid a premium price for the Sony name expecting a long lasting product. After about 18 months of use the TV has now has a problem which is confirmed to affect many other Bravia models. The screen has dark grey horizontal lines extending from the right side through half the screen. It lasts 10 or 15 minutes when powered on. Of course, it is out of warranty but well under the expected lifetime.
Summary: I own this TV. Have had it just past 2 years. It is in the Master BR of my seasonal home therefore it has had very little hours of use. With maybe 100 hours of running time on the set it absolutely died. Sony Authorized Repair man came to analyze the problem for $95. Found the A Board was gone. This evidentally is a major repair as the cost to repair will be $799.
