Summary: Great picture quality, with deep blacks and plenty of detail in shadows. Blooming was minimal, and both uniformity and viewing angle were very good. The Gorilla Glass front adds both toughness and good looks. Excellent choice and great quality. Summary: While this TV worked, it was absolutely amazing. Superb picture. The issue started about 5 months after purchase. Lines started appearing across the screen, then I started seeing double/triple images. I called Sony support and they agreed it was a lemon and very nicely sent me a replacement, asking me to ship the old one back. This is where the problems started. Firstly, all of their replacement TVs are "refurbished".
Summary: Bought this tv about a month ago, unfortunatly not from Amazon because they had it $500 more than anybody else at the time. Anywho, have not upgrade blu ray, can only speak on 2D. Gorilla Glass is wonderful makes tv light for its size and gets rid of glare which only helps the picture. Like another reviewer I went to Cnet for picture adjustments then tweaked them to my liking. When you turn up the motion blur images almost appear 3D.
Summary: Sony has hit it out of the park! This set is fantastic! I'm an audio/visual pro and deal with high end home theaters daily. I shopped arround(Samsung/LG/Sharp/Panasonic) for a replacement for my 9yr. old JVC - H-DILA. The Sony had everything I wanted. Number one & most important was picture quality. Sony has solved the edge lighting issue of "flashlight effect" that all edge lit leds tv's have. I don't know why anyone would buy the XBR ?
Summary: I love this tv but am sort of surprised in the fact that it came without a manual.. If I hadn't had a little knowledge of how these things work, I would have been lost in the setting up process. The cost was high enough so that I would expect to see a more thorough set up and user manual.
Summary: Returned a Samsung 46 ES 7100 for this Sony. The Samsung was an LED on steroids with a burning bright picture that torched all rendering of color and shadow detail.Out of the box settings on the Sony were excellent and I tweeked only a few settings. The Sony HX850 is the closest thing to a great plasma picture you will find in an LED.Its picture quality is like a Rembrandt painting with rich luscious colors and amazing shadow detail.
