    --Background -- The 40W4100 had won many awards so we decided to take the plunge and buy it as our first LCD tv . After many trips to local electrical stores and hours of research on the net, it became aparrent that this tv was a step above the rest and although the price was also a great deal higher, we decided to go for it. However, I smelt a bargain. This tv was being advertised anywhere between £850 and £1000 at most places. Read more

    If youre cynical, like me, you might wonder if all the five-star ratings can be right. Believe me, they are. This is a superb TV. Blacks like you wont believe, fantastic colour and a quick crispness which LCDs just didnt have a while back. The only thing which arent magnificent are the onboard speakers - theyre a bit weak. But if youre getting a TV like this youll be hooking it up to a home theatre system. Read more

Sony KDL-40W4000 is a 40” (102cm) full HD 1080 BRAVIA series LCD TV.

Features

One of the main KDL-40W4000 features is High Definition details via its 6.2 megapixel resolution that delivers high images details. Besides that, it also features Picture Frame Mode that enables to turn the TV into a large digital picture frame. BRAVIA ENGINE 2picture enhancement technology and Advanced Contrast Enhancer provide clearer image and intelligent noise reduction. Moreover, the user also enables to view digital photograph captured direct from digital camera or USB memory devices in High Definition quality via its PhotoTV HD. XrossMediaBar and BRAVIA Sync ease the controls of the TV functions and also other equipments connected to the TV as well via the remote control supplied. With Live Colour Creation and x.v.Colour on the 10-Bit LCD panel, finer and vibrant colours produced. As for the design, this Sony model features ‘draw the LINE’ design concept with Midnight Sky finish. There are three HDMI inputs available that enable the user to connect to High Definition sources such as Blu-ray Disc and PlayStation 3. Moreover, it also features 24p True Cinema that allows film to be watched at its exact shot rate, which normally 24 frames per second. Virtual Dolby Surround and BBE ViVA sound technology enable virtual digital surround sound environment from only two front speakers. The user enables to watch digital TV with the integrated standard digital terrestrial tuner; and also cable TV via the integrated digital cable tuner. This LCD TV is also wall mountable with the optional bracket. Power consumption for the TV is 0.19W in standby mode and 176W in operation.
