Summary: I bought this Tv and was really pleased with it. Now, 15 months later, it is out of guarantee and it won't switch on: the standby light flashed 4 times at intervals - which the Sony help desk informs me means it needs a new part that will cost £500 to install. I am not throwing good money after bad, and I will never buy Sony again. I feel they have robbed me of £645. I wish I had just bought a cheaper make of television.
Summary: I just got this TV yesterday and I'm very happy with the picture quality. Some people have complained about the sound, personally I think it is good, pretty much what you would expect. The on-screen menus are a bit confusing at first but are quite easy to navigate after a few goes. The internet/video on demand is good. However the internet browser is rendered almost useless because it's very difficult to navigate the web pages and to select anything.
Summary: I bought this product on 11-Oct-11. By the 13-Oct-11 the TV had been reduced by £25 and had a £50 Cashback offer from Sony. I think it is dishonest of Amazon not to warn buyers that the sales conditions will be changing in the near future. For the record the TV is okay, poor off centre viewing, sound is average. It arrived on 14-Oct-11. Better than 3 stars but not quite 4.
Summary: If you buy this television, be warned - if you want all the additional features, be prepared to spend a huge amount of money over and above the basic cost. The TV has the facility to connect to the Internet BUT if you want to have it connected wirelessly, it has been programmed so that only the Sony wireless dongle will work, and they price that at an eye-watering £80. You can't use a non-Sony branded one, which costs a fraction of that.
