The Sony Bravia KDL-52XBR9 feature Internet applications called widgets. These can deliver real time information along with streaming videos via the integrated Bravia Internet Video link, using the Ethernet connection. This service offers a large collection of free and premium movies, sports, TV shows, music over the Internet connection from partners such as Amazon Video on demand, YouTube, Yahoo and more. The Sony Bravia KDL-52XBR9 is also fully DLNA compliant for networked media support. The unit features Motionflow™ Technology that uses special algorithms designed to intelligently detect and apply the right amount of enhancement to reduce judder and deliver a smoother, sharper picture with more natural motion of the original film. The x.v.Color™/ Deep Color features is a colorspace standard that allows for the display of roughly 1.8 times the color range allowed by present industry standards (ie RGB). In conjunction with the expanded bit-depths permitted through ‘Deep Color,’ compliant devices outputting via HDMI 1.3 to compatible ‘x.v.Color’ displays is capable of putting on screen nearly every color found in nature that is visible to the human eye.

I’m old enough to remember when Sony introduced its first XBR models, which were top-of-the-line CRT TVs. Since then, the company has continued to use XBR in the model designation of its flagship flat panels, adding a number to indicate each new generation. Read more
Obviously one of the major features of this TV is the 240Hz option. The fact that we could actually use this feature with film and broadcast programming without unwelcomed background information is a major plus. This prevents having to flip the feature off and on depending on viewing content, which is the case with some other branded TVs with the high Hz rate. I was reading review after review on which TV to purchase. I was considering the new Samsung LED models but they were too expensive. My ABT salesman suggested this model and at the time Sony was adding a Bluray player and home theater system. He said you'll be happy with this set and he was right. We got this TV at a great buy of 1700$ which included BD player and Home theater system, got carried away by the price, I switched my mind from Samsung B750 to buy this XBR9.I got this TV and plugged in my DirecTV and was watching for 2 days and it wasnt very impressive, sound is great but the picture looks grain or blurry. I have had this high end TV for 3 weeks now and so far I have nothing but high praises for its outstanding picture. This TV made me realize how having deep blacks is very important in displaying hi-def. Movies come alive because of this. Skin tones are more natural and edges are really sharp. The 5.1 speakers is a plus. The sound separation is fantastic you will think it's coming from separate speakers. It even has an Optical output so you can connect it to your home... Read more
