  • Sony KDL-46V5100 back panel indentation & popping

Received TV yesterday. Noticed since: 1) Indentation at the back panel. Feels warmer than the surrounding area. 2) Popping sound when changing between HD and SD stations. (TV is connected to a Comcast HD cable box) Anyone with similar experiences?

    Answered by yanno35 2009-08-28:

make sure the hd box is set to 1080 not 720, this will result in channel delay. sd stations are broadcasted in 720 while hd are 1080. the different format may result in channel

    Answered by rsayago 2009-12-16:

I get the same popping sound when changing channels between SD to HD. I noticed that Sony is deligating the problem to the cable company's box, however I am NOT using cable to receive my signal thus no cable box to blame. I am simply getting my chanels via an outdoor antenna and noticed the problem on the first day I plugged in the TV. I also notice that there is white noise when the sound is at a low level. Can anyone confirm if a firmware update might correct this problem? I will probably just exchange it for another to see if maybe my TV is defective.
