Summary: One and a half years after having this TV, lines started appearing in the screen. SONY says its out of warranty, I say it was a defective design - search "SONY line in TV!" Don't buy this TV because it will fall apart!
Summary: I bought this TV on 10/24/2011, up until last 08/2014 I was satisfied and I didn't even know that a curve UHD 4K TV was created. Yes, I know where have I been but like any relationship when things go wrong you begin looking again. In 08/2014 I would turn on my TV and the picture would have a brighter picture with lines. Suddenly, the picture would start flickering and then go back into high definition witha better picture.
Summary: My TV which is just about 2 years old and it started flickering and now the picture just sticks and starts overlaying.. I called up customer service and after trying all they suggested they said if it costs me more to repair, they can provide me 15% discount on new TV.. Wow, over 1000 bucks for a TV and it didn't even last 2 years... Not sure if I will buy Sony product in future. Overall the experience was really bad.
Summary: Bought this tv 19 months ago and in the 17 month and 2 weeks it just turned itself off. Sony repair man came out 5 days after my initial call and repaired what he called a power supply issue. Talked to a few friends and many recent Sony TV owners have told me their similar stories that their TV didn't make it to far before their first power supply replacement. Now in the 19th month screen freezes and only hear sound.
Beware the backlight bleeding on ALL versions of this model.

Summary: I did my research before purchasing a new LED-LCD and found this one had some of the best things said for the price. Even in the forums people seemed to be pretty happy with it save one issue: backlight bleeding or "flashilighting". Many of them suggested different calibration settings to lessen it, but that didn't even come close to eliminating it. I tweeked it to every spec I could find and the issue remained.
Summary: Sony replaced my kdl46hx800 with the kdl46hx729. The picture looks good but the edge lighting led causes horrible backlight bleeding. very easy to spot. Sony technician came out to look at the Tv and told me that he would contact Sony for me. Sony is now saying that this is supposed to happen with the edge lighting led even though my hx800 did not have this problem. I would never have bought this tv if i had seen it in the store like this.
