Summary: We bough the tv in July 2008 and we loved the tv! Until two months ago when the tv suddenly stopped working. We since then have done a search and there are MANY complaints on this model of tv!!! Very expensive to fix, if it can be fixed!!!! Buyer beware!!!
Summary: It's almost always best to review electronic items after the manufacturer's 12 months warranty is over; I am speaking from experience. My tele just went passed 17 months and now it is a relic of junk. It turns on but goes into standby just before the picture attempts to show. The standby light blinks twices every 4-5 seconds. Talking with Sony's "tech support" and subsequent research online I discovered that it has been a common defect with these teles.
Summary: I bought a brand new KDL-40S4100 Bravia, SONY, A well-known TV brand, and its pannel burnt out in less than a year. the worst TV. whatever you get, dont get a Sony... I know, it sounds unbelievable, but this is off of experience!
Summary: After a lot of research and money saving we bought this TV in September 2008. It looked and sounded great up until a week ago I went to turn it on and as the screen started to illuminate, it shut off and a series of red blinks began. My warranty was expired by 8 months and when I called Sony they could only refer me to a Sony approved repairman.
Summary: It works well for four months. The pictures became unstable. I got the exchange. The screen went black awhile after the warranty expired. Can't say I got what I paid for. It is still Sony and supposed to work like one. I am disappointed as I have liked Sony products in the past.
Summary: The Sony Bravia S-Series KDL-40S4100 40 inch LCD TV is fantastic. The picture is great and the sound fills my living room and both makes me feel I am actually in the picture. Some say it is slow in changing channels. Yes but if you hit the enter key after the number buttons it changes quickly. Unlike the newer version this model does not have the problem of going dark in dim scenes. It also receives all in the clear digital signals on my local cable system.
Summary: I have to say this was a wonderful experience dealing with such a big item being sent through the mail. The item was packed great and arrived in just a couple days with no extra costs. Great to deal with.
