Excerpt: As far as electronics go, I prefer nicer things that will last a long time. Thats why when I was shopping for a TV, I ended up choosing the Sony Ex500. The picture is crisp and smooth, and at 120hz, looks very clean. The blacks aren't washed out like some other plasma/LCD tvs and the design looks great amongst my other "monolitic" home theater stuff.
Excerpt: This is an awesome TV for a great price. Sony definitely got this TV right, and the 120hz adds a ton when you're watching fast action movies or sports. The only downside to this TV in my opinion is the lack of a network input, or internet apps. Other than that I am very pleased with this TV, which is light and easy to reposition as well. The casing is also extremely attractive and seems sturdy.
Summary: I love my Sony Bravia the picture is crisp the sound is ok but I would hook it up to a home theater if I were you this is a consumer reports champion you will be satisfied! Oh yeah you won't buy this tv under 700 dollars at a store so use Amazon.com like I did!
Pros: The picture is crisp. Colors are good. We like the menu layouts and the options offered. When I switch from "General" picture mode to "Sports", or "Games", or "Cinema", the difference is noticeable. The blacks are surprisingly good.
Cons: The sound levels need some adjusting for watching an HD television signal. We had some trouble hearing dialogue, but were able to make the necessary adjustment. The deepest blacks do tend to vacillate between black and dark blue.
Summary: I purchased my Sony BRAVIA KDL-40EX500 LCD TV in November 2011 through AMAZON.COM (fulfilled by HUPPINS, in this case). Already one model year old and fast disappearing, the KDL-40EX500 is PERFECT for my needs for One Simple Reason: analog audio outputs on the back (newer models in almost all manufacturers' lines only have TOSLINK out and hooking that up to my "legacy" stereo would require an adaptor).
