Excerpt: Why did the Sony design engineers feel that customers need a gong sound to confirm the set has been turned on. The red light going to yellow and the appearance of picture would seem sufficient. Even though it would be easy to do so, they offer no option within the menu settings to disable to opening gong. Not a good option if you might ever want to turn on the television in the middle of the night without awakening a bed partner. Ridiculous design decision.
Summary: we have had this tv for about one year now it is not working.repairman has been trying to fix it for 2 months.sony tech support keeps offering advice on what parts to replace however it never works.my warranty was over by 2 weeks when this stopped working.should have bought a extended warranty however only $300 less then what we paid for the tv.we did not buy this tv from walmart because @ the time did not carry sony.will not buy sony again.
Summary: So far (about one month) I am definitely not thrilled. The prior reviews were right I should have learned from their reviews. Apparently Sony has been doing the same thing that Toyota did--cut back,,cut back, cut back, etc. etc. I expected a lot more from Sony. They are still trying to lock their buyers into the Sony line--BIG MISTAKE. Apple learned that mistake 20 years ago. The picture is nothing special and neither is the sound. And the remote is a piece of junk.
