Summary: I purchased this new on at Target in Oct '11. I am out of town 4+ days a week, so I don't watch tv often. Last night, I had it on for about 20mins & I heard a "pop". The orange light for "sleep mode" went on for a sec & then nothing. Power in house was fine. Dvd player in same outlet still working. Tried unplugging. Checked to make sure not overheated. Tried plugging it in again this morning - no picture, no sound, no lights. Of course, it's out of warranty.
Summary: Sony BRAVIA KDL40BX450 40-Inch 1080p HDTV, Black This product was bought for Christmas 2011. It had an LED defect & started having picture problems in Feb 2012. Sony would only replace with refurbished. Never got an even "I'm sorry" you had trouble with one of our products from Sony. Their customer service was a disappointment. Sony knew this TV had past LED issues. Amazon customer service was outstanding.
Summary: PROS: -Great definition and colors in HD -Price cons: -AWFUL quality in SD -Tendency to blown whites -Remote control missed some buttons like sleep and picture -Shiny cheap frame -Even is a matte and not a glossy screen, reflects light almost like a glossy Is a sad and painful experience to watch this TV in standard definition, the reason i think this TV has good reviews is because in the US there are no crappy TV signals, most of the signals are HD now.
Summary: I ordered a brand new Sony Bravia, KDL40BX420, 40" HDTV from Amazon. When it arrived I tried to set it up for several hours. I have set up numerous TVs in my 60 plus years, and currently own a Bravia 32" and Sony large rear projection and never had problems. I attached the cords as instructed and was never able to get a picture, only sound. I tried all inputs, all combos of wire hookups, changed my cables, etc. I gave up and called the Sony helpline.
