Pros: Good picture for the price as long as you don't need it to work for more than 4 years.
Cons: After replacing the lamp for the second time, the picture is now extremely yellow. It cannot be adjusted away. Virtually unwatchable. Dark blue uniforms now look black. Sony's solution was for me to spend $800 - $1,200 for replacement parts plus labor
Summary: I have this same tv and bought it in 2007, about a month ago i notice my screen was getting a yellowish green haze to it. I googled the problem and found out it is the optical block, to replace the block in this tv is $1400 WOW! Has been a great tv though the years.
Summary: I always do a lot of homework before buying electronics. I kinda wish I did the same before marrying my wife, but that's a different story for another time. I'm the type that will agonize over a $39 electronics purchase zinging from website to website to find the absolute best brand, feature and price mix I can....but then I spend way too much on my auto insurance because I went with the company with the funniest commercial. (Those cavemen crack me up).
Summary: Full HD picture is excellent. The main reason to get this TV over pure LCD is that this kind TV's is more child friendly. The front screen takes a lot of abuse from little hands. Plus because it is stable on it's stand as opposed to LCD stands, I do not worry that my child will push the TV over. Get used to fan noise, not very loud, and lamp warm up time.
What can one say about Sony in a single word PERFECTION

Summary: Just received the Sony Grand Wega 55" TV. Wow It has to be the best TV out their easy to use menue perfect projecton even in the corners viewable in any angle sharp & clear picture in any light. I was going to purchess a LCD TV but my choice on this one was because the ease of replacement of the lamp and after reading reviews of the TV i knew this was for me Unlike LCD TVs that have a better picture but they don't last as long and your unable to replace parts incase it...
Summary: Very good picture. Excellent features. The 55" size is as large as I could possibly need. Everything looks so realistic. Reason to purchase, quality vs price and I can replace the one bulb that will eventually fail (hopefully after 10,000 hours) The only thing that would be a dislike is the depth, but I understand the reason, it isn`t LCD or plasma Overall I would recommend this set to anyone looking for very nice HD picture quality and features for a great price...
Summary: before buying this sony i did a lot of comparing, from going into stores to reading every consumer report i could find, having a samsung 40 L.C.D. and not wanting to spend 3,500 to 4,000 for a bigger t.v . i finally got the sony, you will not get the same picture as a l.c.d. thats what i was hung up on ,, however you do get a very good picture. i do a lot of gaming also so the response time was also a factor,, l.c.d. paint the picture something like 8 millisec..
