Bringing together a mixture of good and not-so-good elements, the LE700 isn't good enough to make it to the top of our list. However, it still marks a real step forward in terms of energy consumption, where it's the most efficient TV we've ever seen. Read more

    • Very low energy consumption, Good contrast
    • No rotating stand, Ghosting far too visible, Image quality drops off at viewing angles above 35-40°, On screen menus showing their age

The Sharp LC-LE700UN's LED backlighting doesn't elevate its picture quality beyond the LCD norm, but does help make it the most efficient TV we've ever tested. Read more

The 700E offers a lot of screen for the money and its performance with HD sources is impressive, thanks to its ability to produce natural colours and inky black levels. However, it has a bad habit of highlighting the negative aspects of standard definition broadcasts, rather than smoothing them over, and its sound performance is a little below par. Read more

The Sharp Aquos LC-52LE700E offers plenty of screen for the money, and it's capable of delivering crisp HD pictures with intense colours and deep blacks. Its standard-def performance is disappointing, but you should check it out if you mainly watch Blu-ray movies Read more

    • Inky blacks, Intense colours, Sharp HD pictures
    • Poor picture presets, Tinny sound, Below-par standard-definition performance

There’s much to admire about Sharp’s 52LE700E, and we still can’t thank the brand enough for making the numerous delights of direct LED lighting so affordable in big-screen LCD TVs. But for me, Sharp’s cost-cutting approach to LED lighting doesn’t work quite as well at this 52in level as it does on the brand’s smaller screens. And motion blur and barely average sonics continue to be a problem for Sharp to work on for its next LED series. Read more

I previously had another 52" LCD TV. Then I got this one. There is no comparison. It is much brighter and lighter. Also, when I walk near the screen, I no longer feel the heat that the old LCD generated. The screen is very glossy and easy to clean. I definitely recommend purchasing this TV. Read more

I chose this TV over Samsung which was much more expensive. Well, I can tell why Sharp is less expensive. Two things that annoy me the most are 1. the glare of the screen is very noticable, 2. converter inside TV produce a high frequency hissing noise. Both of these can be ignored if all that matters to you is the price. One thing I liked is the serial port that I use to control TV with my PC (the commands are documented in user manual, unbelievable!) . Read more
