Designed specifically for the European market, the Sharp LC-32P50E LCD TV is designed for the most basic of viewers. While some may be skeptical of the quality of the unit because it is not HD ready, it has a surprising amount of connectivity and boasts an adequate picture quality.

The Sharp is designed for the casual television viewer who is interested in watching standard digital television and DVD’s. It has an appealing appearance in a sleek black and sliver motif. However, the remote control leaves much to be desired with a non-standard design that will no doubt be the topic of much conversation.

One uncommon feature of the unit is the HDMI input, an option not found in most comparable units. However, the lack of a PC jack and only two Scarts makes the remaining connections options basic, albeit adequate for a user who is less than savvy when it comes to technology.

The Sharp boasts an amazing picture quality, given its basic options, and lack of HD compatibility. With a screen resolution of 540 lines it is well below the HD standard of at least 720 lines, however, the unit was designed to work with the UK’s PAL TV. When used in conjunction with this technology, the Sharp offers a stunning image with excellent clarity.

With a built in sensor, allowing the unit to adjust the picture based on the level of light in the room, and a whole host of additional features designed to adapt the picture for optimal viewing, the unit packs a surprising punch for its basic technology offerings. It does have a slight amount of trouble with rapid motion causing a blurring effect, and does not do a very good job in discerning different levels of black. However, for the money, the Sharp LC-32P50 LCD TV is a best buy in the European market.
