Best 1080i 720p display money can buy

Anonymous, Newegg
17 March 2008
  • Summary: Providing UPS doesn't damage the box, you won't be sorry.
  • Pros: This HDTV is the best for the buck believe me, Has HDMI, VGA, Component and Digital coaxial out. I simultaneously use my xbox 360 and computer with this monitor and have never had a problem with ghosting with its 8ms response time during gameplay.
  • Cons: Only one HDMI input

Great TV

Adam F., Newegg
13 February 2008
  • Summary: Great product, great price, great deal.
  • Pros: This is a great TV, especially for the price. HD looks beautiful on it. I liked mine so much, I bought a smaller model for a family member.
  • Cons: The backlight is a tad over exaggerated, but nothing you can't live with. Also, go ahead and buy a new remote because the one packaged with it is horrible. My screen only has one hot pixel in the lower middle, but it doesn't always act up and is not noticeable the majority of the time.

Good buy

Daniel B., Newegg
10 February 2008
  • Summary: Best buy for the price and newegg delivers fast.
  • Pros: Great quality HD once it's calibrated. You do that by using a calibration DVD. Lots of ports to plug in many devices. Runs Halo 3 superb through the use of a HDMI cable. The specifications page mentions that the HDTV only can get up to a resolution of 720p but the box it came in says 1080i compat...
  • Cons: As other reviews have mentioned, the remote has limited range but the way I have it setup, it doesn't matter or you could always buy a universal remote for very little. It did come with one stuck pixel which I fixed. Just google it and you are sure to find solutions on how to fix a stuck pixel. I...

HOT PIXELS

Sonya O., Newegg
29 January 2008
  • Summary: maybe try to buy somewhere else where you can actually pick it up yourself and possibly return afterwards, because its very possible you will get a display with HOT or dead pixel.
  • Pros: great image quality when watching everything but regular non-hd tv.
  • Cons: HOT PIXELS!!!! many of them. poor quality control. cannot be returned. poor image with regular tv.

Great TV for the price!

Daniel G., Newegg
28 January 2008
  • Summary: All in all, a great by. The remote issue is easy to deal with when you consiter the cost savings.
  • Pros: Picture quality is excellent. As stated in previous reviews, the remote is small and does not have a very good range, but it still serves it's purpose. As with most any HDTV it is meant to display an HD signal so do not expect excellent picture quality with a standard definition signal. Notice ma...
  • Cons: YV did arrive with one dead pixel on the top center of screen. Despite my best efforts I could not revive it. The remote doesn't work well outside of about 8 ft from the unit.

Terrific Sharp Picture and Buy

Phil Y., Newegg
14 January 2008
  • Summary: I've also got a 42 inch Sceptre and computer monitor I've had for years - still working excellent since the day I bought them. I hope it continues.
  • Pros: Sharp crisp picture, auto adjusts aspect ratio. Includes many features you usually find in name brand LCD sets for more money. The setup screen menu is super easy compared to other sets I've set up for other people. Sceptre provides little pictures for you just in case you get confused.
  • Cons: The remote control - geeeez. The infrared receiver on the TV must be a 3 degree span width and yes I've tried new batteries. They could do better on this and I'm writing a suggestion letter to revise to RF type. A little less features on this set compared to their 42 inch and 46 inch, but that's ...

User Review

Nathan S., Newegg
10 January 2008
  • Summary: I hung mine on the wall of my office and ran the wiring in the wall. Looks great, and I have had many compliments on the picture. Overall it would be hard to beat this tv for the price (of course I bought it when it was on sale for $499!)
  • Pros: Nice picture! Built in QAM is nice to have, much better than strapping that big cable box to it.
  • Cons: When you turn it on it shows a SCEPTRE screen for approx 5 seconds. Nothing bad but it gets annoying after the 40th or so time.

Not terrible

Sloane I., Newegg
10 January 2008
  • Summary: If you plan on setting up this TV with a universal remote, use the Sony codes, (the SCEPTRE one that DirecTV DVR had listed did not work.)
  • Pros: Most inexpensive TV of this size at the time I purchased it. Very light, my mother was able to lift it and set it up herself. Plenty of inputs, cycling through inputs was very fast. Menu was fresh and light, but full featured.
  • Cons: The remote is terrible, but I don't know who plans on using it without a cable or satellite box, so it's not really a con, but it is still worth noting. Dead pixels. Both were near the bottom, and one of them wasn't even a dead pixel, it was a little multi colored squiggle.) I've never, EVER had ...

Look Elsewhere

M K., Newegg
8 January 2008
  • Summary: I got about 3-4 stuck green pixels and it's really distracting. Surprisingly this is not the worst problem. The problem that bothers me the most is the delayed audio. It's lined up watching tv and playing ps3 (component), but if anything is plugged in yrw there is definite audio lag, it literally...
  • Pros: US Customer Support Cheap Looks okay Tv reception is decent on SD channels
  • Cons: -DEAD/STUCK PIXELS ARE COMMON- also there is a poor pixel warranty -Audio is a good quarter second off from video from yellow white red inputs. -pathetic remote range -gets a little hot -remote is too small

Awesome choice

David S., Newegg
4 January 2008
  • Pros: Was a little hesitant to purchase but this tv had great reviews here at Newegg. I took a chance for $499 and I'm glad I did. Xbox 360 on HDMI is awesome. Directv HD is amazing. Newegg delivered in two days!!!
  • Cons: None yet. Hopefully won't be any.
