Bad built in sound from the start, Dies less then two years later.
The King of No-Pants, Amazon
31 August 2014
Summary: This TV was the purchase of a desperate college student wanting to play The new Borderlands 2 on a screen bigger then 22". From the start the sound on the TV was weird it would randomly increase and decrease. You would be watching something and it would suddenly get very quiet.
Summary: Seems like lots of other people got them just fine. Newegg shipped it fast, and did a great job of handling my RMA. I will always buy here.
Pros: It was a very nice looking set especially for the money. The base was as others had mentioned, but it didn't seem at risk of breaking. I like that it attached and removed with screws, not plastic teeth that would have been a pain to get off.
Cons: Mine was DOA. Just bad luck I suppose, but I rely on the reviews here as much as anyone to determine the likelihood of getting a lemon.
Summary: Given the disparity in reviews, I think one of three things has occurred. 1. TVs were manufactured in different plants. 2. Different production runs turned out different quality TVs. 3. Quality control at the manufacturer is poor.
Pros: Got it for a low price. Lots of inputs including VGA. Swivel base. Free HDMI cable. Decent looking TV...when it's off. :) 200 x 200 vesa mounting holes
Cons: The picture looks like the movie "A Scanner Darkly" I calibrated the TV with DVE, through the HDMI and coax inputs, with the same result I have yet to try the component or PC inputs, but I expect the same results. I am not as sensitive as my son is to ghosting, but this TV has very noticeable gho...
Summary: I dropped my initial rating down another egg since this is a major flaw with this TV. I will call Sceptre tomorrow and ask if there is a work around for this.
Pros: I tried to calibrate this TV with my Ovation software and DVD player using an HDMI cable. Like some other reviewers the Tint control was greyed out. When I switched the source back to TV and an analog channel the Tint control was accessible, on a digital channel it was greyed out again.
Cons: I had to switch back and forth between an analog channel and my DVD player on HDMI1 to calibrate the Tint, a major PITA. Is this normal for this TV? Maybe, since other reviewers are having the same problem.
Summary: Given that nobody else has complained about incredible amounts of ghosting/motion blur, I am starting to suspect that I've actually got a bad unit. I suppose I can try returning it.
Pros: It was a killer deal for black friday. Got the tv with 2 year warranty. Speakers are loud enough not to need external. Looks nice.
Cons: I can't stand to use it. Everything ghosts really bad. My wife says she can't see it, but I went from a lower-res CRT to this, and now I can't even play Halo or watch action movies, because any rapid movement turns the screen into a giant smear. It totally sucks.
Pros: Great sound and features, vga hook is sweet even with a netbook.
Cons: 7-10 stuck pixels in a cluster, got rid of 1/2 of them but still sucks havin a green spot in the mid. of your screen. And a return or warranty will cost you 50 + $ so Ill deal with it. It my bedroom tv so Ill live.
