Summary: The TV itself is fine, however, Sanyo's customer service is quite possibly the worst I have ever encountered. I lost a piece to the base and needed to order a new one. Sounded simple. I called Sanyo, made my request. The woman did not appear to understand English particularly well and I had to repeat my request approximately 8-10 times. After about 15 minutes of miscommunications, I asked if there was someone else I could speak with.
Summary: I got this 42" TV off of someone for $20 because it wouldn't turn on at all. They said they had a power outage, and then the TV no longer worked, so obviously a power surge got it. Wasn't hooked up to a surge protector. A new power board brought it back to life. The problem with the old board - one of the 8-pin IC chips had gotten fried. The surge also damaged the HDMI chip, so none of the HDMI inputs worked. A new main board fixed that issue right up.
Summary: Didn't buy this from Amazon, but we've had this TV since the fall of 2010 or 2009 and it still is great. They may never get a refurb back in stock but if they do I'd get it in a heartbeat. I know that once ours dies it will be a sad day in the home (and wallet) unless it's just a control board or PSU.
Summary: I also purchased a 42 in. Sanyo LCD flat screen at Walmart in 2011. Now here in 2014, the sound has gone out for no apparent reason. It worked one day and not the next. Trouble shooting with the cable company and then the Sanyo technical service reveals it is a Sanyo issue-of course the warranty is over now!....repair cost is half of the purchase price. No thanks! I'd expect a TV to last longer than 2 1/2 years! Stay away from this product!
Summary: I bought this TV 4 years ago and it has been a great TV. The picture quality was great 4 years ago, nothing compared to today's TVs but this was a great purchase. I purchased it from Walmart for a fair price and its still going strong, no problems at all.
Summary: This tv seemed nice for a while. It lasted 1 and 1/2 years. It just went out one day. The green light comes on and that is it. The tv repairman said it will cost me $100 just to look at it. And if it is the power supply that is another $100. But it could be other things. After reading many reviews on this tv it seems to be a piece of crap. Thanks Sanyo. Never will I buy anything with your name on it.
