Great tv until it wasn't
18 September 2014
Summary: Loved the tv for 2 years. It started clicking on and off, only way to stop it was to unplug it. Called repair company $100, paid total of $376 for a new power board installed. Worked for a little while and started doing again. Repair company came back and said they weren't sure what was causing it - could be another $200 or $800. They ended up refunding our $276. Screwed. This was a great tv until it wasn't. POS.
Summary: Bought this TV from another retailer in August 2011. On the last day of August 2014 the TV developed severe black horizontal lines across the entire screen, significant light bleed on the right side, and the upper half of the screen flickers light, dark, or off entirely. A quick trip to Google shows me that thousands of other owners are experiencing similar problems, and they've mostly started over the past 6 months.
Summary: I purchased this unit for our game room knowing it would have limited use for about the first 12 months. Moved to MBR during spring and the set just started not showing a picture. Appears to be a bulb". Called Company, all agreed that appears to be a bulb??? We had surge protection and intentionally bought a "better" name to avoid this type thing. Samsung washed hands, as warranty had expired on Jan 31. Always hurts to lose a grand.
Summary: I loved this TV for the first two years I owned it. Then out of the blue one evening, the screen froze and then went black. No sound, no picture. I had it serviced a few days later and was told the TV needed a new panel, which with parts and labor would cost $900. Seriously? On a $1000 TV? As my one-year warranty had expired, I really had no option but to replace the TV (rather than spent the same amount of fixing this one).
Summary: I purchased this TV just 2years and 8 months ago. I especially liked how thin and light the TV was. Initially, lots of good things to say. However, just like all the others here, I was watching the TV, I got a double image for about one minute and then it went black. I called Samsung and jumped through their hurdles; they finally told me it had to go to a repair center and it's not under their unforgivable one year warranty.
Summary: Beware all interested people in this Tv, it is very important to view all reviews of products before buying them. I am writing this review 18 months after buying this product. If you read the rest of the reviews fro this Tv, you will definitely see that other buyers have had issues with this Tv as well. My problem basically started with the display pannel as it lost a few pixels in the upper part of the screen.
Summary: I got this TV less then 2 years ago and it has been fantastic. Great picture, sound and features (love the Internet enabled features but disappointed that you had to buy a wifi adapter for it; that should have been built in). However at less than 2 years old it broke. Was watching TV one evening and the picture went blank but sound continued to work.
Summary: For the first time I bought a Samsung product after a lifetime of using Sony. I bought this unit in May 2011 and in less than 18 months use as a secondary unit it has failed! The power keeps going on and off and Samsung says that the only thing that can be done is to have it serviced? How can their not be a reset to factory settings option on the TV? All I can say is that I will be going back to Sony. I know they cost more but they last forever!
Summary: After many trips to Fry's Electronics and some extensive review reading, I broke down and purchased this TV on black Friday. On December 30th (yes, 35 days later) the picture went out. After multiple visits to my home to repair by Samsung techs, and numerous "I need to order a part so we'll call you to set up an appointment and come back and install the new part" promises it is still not working.
Summary: We've owned this TV for about 8 months and it has never worked correctly. It has so many bugs, I don't have time to list them all, and if it was possible to give zero stars, I would do so. The first TV was replaced by Samsung and the replacement soon developed an inability to find attached devices (the satellite DVR and a Sony Blu-Ray player). Next, it began starting up with a washed-out picture in green tint. then, we started getting a myriad of nonsense error messages.
