Should've bought Sony
B King, Amazon
6 April 2014
Summary: I've had all Sony tvs in the past but since Samsung had been getting such great reviews I figured I would give it a try. The picture is great as long as the brightness is low. If it is high then you get shadowing. The bigger issue was just after the 1 year warranty ended the the screen died. The process to get it fixed was a nightmare. I was referred to 4 different repair facilities by Samsung's support.
Summary: It was good since we purchased 1.5 yrs ago. but suddenly it became intermittent black screen for about 1.5 hrs. There is no way to predict when it is. Also after screen went to black, I used another TV (Not Samsung) to check the signals and everything was good. Samsung is not good name to hold quality. Buyer must be aware of it and I would not buy Samsung stuff if they can not keep TV set for 1.5 yrs. Also wifi could not turn off if you enable it.
Summary: Got my TV on Friday. Great picture. That lasted about 30 minutes. The remote control started acting cray and a sign appeared in the middle of the screen, "Not Available". Contacted "Samsung Support". Very nice people but couldn't do a thing for me. I told them I'd like to get a new TV, since mine was bad right out of the box. That's not their policy. As long as they can fix it you will keep it. Samsung Support is like many others "Kill them with Kindness".
Summary: I recently purchased four new tv's for my house, two Sony's and two Samsungs, so I can compare these TV's literally side by side. The TV's I purchased are: 1. Sony Bravia XBR55HX929 LED LCD TV 2. Sony Bravia KDL46NX720 LED LCD TV 3. Samsung PN59D8000 Plasma TV 4. Samsung UN46D7000 LED LCD TV Out of all four, I would recommend the Sony KDL from a performance and price perspective.
Summary: I purchased this tv about 2 weeks ago to replace a 42 inch Panasonic plasma. There are a lot of great things about this tv, but the one thing that matters most - the picture - was a big disappointment. The design and features of this tv are great. Internet worked really well, menus are nicely laid out and I loved the big screen. If you view the tv straight on, the picture is excellent, but if you sit the slightest bit off center it washes out quickly.
Summary: Smart TV & the IR keyboard is a joke. It's incredibly slow to register input. The remote is a damn waste of time. First of all, everything about Smart TV is a joke. It's incredibly sluggish. People would say that's just the lack of power of TVs, but I disagree. Embedded systems are definitely powerful to run home theatres, and if you look at something like Popcorn Hour, Boxee, etc. all of those do better aswell. There is a lot to be desired here.
Hard time connecting to internet via built in wireless
2 November 2011
Summary: I've been using this tv for 3 months..everything is good about this tv - picture quality, sound, etc. BUT BUT one of the rudimentary functions - connecting to internet via built-in wireless is a pain in the neck. Every time I turn on the tv, keep getting "network interference problem" and tv doesn't seem to store my network password and I have to key in passcode every time I turn on tv.
Summary: The TV came, no damage to the box. We opened up everything carefully, taking out all the parts and pieces (this tv is not wireless without buying a separate part which cost who knows what, but it does come with a dongle to hook into your router. Kept looking and looking and no glasses! It's says on the product website "includes 2 free pairs of 3D glasses", but nope, no where to be found. I contacted the company, hopefully they will send out the 2 pairs quickly.
Summary: Bought this TV before it was available in stores from online retailer after seeing the un65D8000 on Samsungs website. Paid almost $5000 mainly for the size and look of the Bezel. TV came and it has the LARGE bezel. Called Samsung and they initially denied any mistake on the website. The following day the picture was changed. I then emailed them about the bezel size issue. I got no response, but the website now mentions the bezel size as "1 1/2 inches"..
Summary: I received the TV today and like several other people have said, this TV does NOT have the ultra thin .2 inch bezel that is advertised in the description. It's annoying to expect one thing and receive another. We even called Amazon to confirm before buying and they said yes it was. Of course when we received it, it was not. It does have a nice picture but don't buy this expecting that new feature to be included with it. False advertising!
