Samsung PN64D8000 Review
7 November 2011
Conclusion: Given Samsung’s strong brand and the PN64D8000’s excellent performance and slim design, we think it is entirely possible that this TV could redefine the public’s perception of plasma TV technology. If that happens, the divergence in price between plasma and LCD could close significantly. Right now, we’re seeing a street price for this TV at around $1,800. Samsung’s LED-backlit equivalent, the UN55D8000, currently goes for about $2,500 from the same retailers.
Pros: Superb color accuracy, Excellent black levels and brightness, Built-in Wi-Fi, Thin and light (for a plasma), Bluetooth QWERTY remote
Cons: Some motion artifacts, Unattractive stand, No Amazon Instant Video app
Summary: Although plasma technology may be looked on as old news, for consumers of larger TVs like the Samsung PS64D8000 it makes perfect sense. This TV offers a staggeringly good picture, is relatively affordable for the technology on offer, and would grace even the largest of living rooms.

Pros: Excellent picture quality, Great design, Impressive sound quality from a thin TV
Cons: The Series 6 might be slightly better value, EPG is slow to load and navigate
