Great picture, but really annoying buzz

C. Quinn, Amazon
24 November 2012
  • Summary: The picture on this TV was fantastic. I have nothing but great things to say about the color and picture quality. But if you ever watch TV with the volume realitively low, the buzzing noise this TV makes will drive you insane. The buzzing sound is very focused and can only be heard directly in front of the TV. If you move to either side, you can hardly hear it at all... but most of the time I want to sit directly in front.

Some hear the buzz, some don't. If you do, it's bad.

L. Burns, Amazon
11 October 2012
  • Summary: We loved everything about this TV. Almost. I'm giving it two stars because although it seemed wonderful in most ways, we had to return it. We read about the buzz that some people experienced, but we thought we'd see if we got one that didn't. I suspect, though, that they all buzz- people just vary in whether they can hear it. I couldn't, really, and I would have been perfectly happy - but it drove my husband crazy.

Awful Buzzing Sound

William Del Genio, Amazon
29 September 2012
  • Summary: I'm not sure if my particular TV was defective or worse than other TVs of the same model, but there was a blatant buzzing noise that forced me to return it within 30 mins. The buzzing noise sounds something like a fluorescent light fixture with a bad ballast. It was present in all modes that the TV was on and no adjustment of any of the settings made it any better. I was able to hear the buzz clearly even from my bedroom.

Buzzing, and how to know if you'll hear it

Chris Prince, Amazon
2 August 2012
  • Summary: Although the color was excellent on this plasma TV, the buzzing was too much for me to overlook. I ended up returning it and getting a similar LED television instead. The sound reminded me of a compact fluorescent bulb in a misadjusted dimmer socket. Some people don't notice this (or don't have dimmer sockets), but it grates on me whenever I hear it. If you tend to notice this, you will likely notice the buzz from the 2012 Samsung plasma TVs too.
