Summary: Awful software. For a long time Samsung didn't support Amazon Instant Video at all; now they claim to, but it suddenly stopped working on this one. I tried all kinds of "updates" at multiple levels, no help. The interface is pretty bad as well -- they have a "Web Browser", but even with a USB keyboard attached it's barely usable -- you still have to use the remote to move the mouse around and click in each field -- you can't, for example, tab to the next field even when...
Summary: I had heard about plasmas and their buzzing issues, but since my previous plasma (Panasonic) made no noticeable noise at viewing distance, I went ahead and purchased this Samsung. First impressions were positive. It has an excellent picture, although the automatic brightness adjustment feature is somewhat annoying and can be turned off. It wasn't until I sat on my couch and started watching a show that I started to notice an buzzing sound in my ear.
Summary: The plasma picture was superb, very natural, but when on 3D with the active glasses (which is what we bought it for) it was unwatchable. The image was way too dark and could not be adjusted better, and my wife and I both suffered headaches from the glasses. Had to return it.
the samsung PS51E550 has a brilliant picture quality

Excerpt: My husband always wanted a large flat screen tv on the wall so we got the Samsung 51" plasma screen. The quality of the picture is excellent but, having had lcd screens in the past, we didn't realise how much light affected the screen. The tv is on a wall that isn't affected by light but we can see everything reflecting in it, its like a mirror, even on cloudy days. I don't know what the neighbours are saying, but we have to close the curtains to watch the telly.
Summary: I found this panel to be very average, whilst it had nice colours and very good motion, the balck levels were very poor. Black areas were noticeably grey even in a completely dark room. It didn't come close to a two year old Series6 LCD to be honest. Returned it and now have a Panasonic plasma which is light years ahead in terms of picture quality. The design, stand and menus/apps are good though.
