Samsung - poor quality - it fails and you are stuck

Rudy Borkowski, Amazon
21 May 2014
  • Summary: I bought this on great reviews from CNET and TopTenReviews (I'll never trust either again). Since I bought it I've found tons of Googled complains about failures - lines in the screen. Just over 3 years old, I just replaced it with a Panasonic (that I did not buy from Amazon since I don't "trust" their recommendations much anymore either). I bought this Samsung TV, two BluRay players, a refrigerator and a camera all in adjacent years.

Disappointed - Permanent Green Vertical Stripe Down Middle Of Screen After Only 2 Years

Andrew Kearney, Amazon
24 January 2013
  • Summary: Disappointed! TV worked great for 2 years, then suddenly a a green vertical stripe appeared down the middle of the screen. Stripe is evident when using different inputs, so is definitely a dead pixel issue. If it was to the side, I might be able to ignore it, but when it's in the middle of the picture, that's tough to do. Samsung don't cover repairs after 1 year warranty expires. Online repair requests points me to dealer 45 miles away.

Don't buy Samsung Plasma HDTV (PN50C6500)

John W., Amazon
14 May 2012
  • Summary: I bought a Samsung PN50C6500 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV (Black) in July 2010. We don't watch TV much with this TV normally. But there is a solid line on the screen since last week. I called the Samsung support desk, and run a test, but the line still there. Now we need to pay service cost to fix that problem for this TV. I have another TV (sony) that bought 5 years ago, it is still very good.

Great while it lived

Mona Lisa "M.W.", Amazon
1 January 2011
  • Summary: I bought this television Nov of 2010. It completely died two weeks ago. There was sound but no picture. We were told by a couple of different techs that the part (board) that it would need would cost around 8 or 9 hundred and that we'd be better off buying a new one. The tv had a great picture while it lasted. A tv should last a lot longer than 2 years. Never again, Samsung.
