Summary: The reason I said this because the firmware for this TV actually ruins it. Unfortunantly I did a firmware upgrade after warranty and it ruined it (ghost image burn). I looked it up and Samsung has a 1008.3 firmware and voltage adjustment they need to do to fix the tv back to normal for a mere fee for $120 (what I was quoted for). Thank you Samsung for qreat service. I've tried the 800 and online chat.
Summary: I purchased this TV at Christmas in 2010 so it's not quite 2 years old. The picture is excellent and I really like the deep blacks you see on Plasma TV's. However, the TV just started having an issue. Upon turning on the unit one day, a thin red, vertical line appeared on the left hand side of the screen. Shortly after, a blue thin vertical line appeared on the right hand side of the screen.
Excerpt: When you pay close to a thousand dollars for a brand new HDTV, you should expect a beautiful, flawless picture when you take it out of the box. After I set everything up and started watching it, I was quite impressed with the picture. But it only took a couple of hours before I spotted it--The dreaded DEAD PIXEL. It was there, tiny, but there. Solid black, this meant the pixel wasn't stuck but actually dead. No pencil eraser could get this thing to budge.
Summary: BITTE BITTE DIESEN PLASMA NICHT KAUFEN!!! Sie werden nicht glücklich. Das surren des plasmapaneels ist so laut wie von einem 25 jahre alten Röhrenfernseher... tun sie sich den gafallen... NICHT KAUFEN.
