Summary: We have 1 plasma and 3 Mid range LCD's. Our plasma is the Samsung PN50B530 from last year. Ordering this we were expecting similar quality however the PQ is nothing in comparison. This is by far our worst panel at our house.
Pros: Price, cosmetically pleasing, slim, almost no image retention that I've noticed
Loud buzz when on, great picture with regular antenna, etc...

Summary: $500 for a 42 inch Samsung Plasma (even though it's only 720p) is pretty fantastic. That being said here's a little more info after 3 days of using the tv. When the tv is on there is a very loud noticeable buzz. Luckily the tv speakers are very loud and can over-power this buzzing.
Summary: Have had this TV for almost 3 years now. Never had issues with "burn-in." The picture quality is outstanding in 720p. We mounted ours, so we don't use it on the stand. The speakers aren't phenomenal, but apparently they aren't terrible either because that's all we've been using for the last 3 years.
Excerpt: BBC2 is being switched off forever on March 11th in my region! Our local transmitter will no longer broadcast normal analogue television from the end of April, BBC gone by April 14th. We never had Channel 5.
Excerpt: I got my Samsung 42 inch plasma as a birthday present. I have to say having been a long time plasma user I was worried at the price that it might short change on quality. Not so! The picture quality is superb and the set up couldn't be simpler.
Pros: Simple set - up and great picture quality
Cons: Fiddly attachment for the stand that was a little bit lacking in quality and sturdiness
Excerpt: I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago for the world cup and have not been dissapointed. Cost I bought this from Currys for £450, including free delivery. I have a full HD Samsung TV already so just wanted another for a different room.
