  • Summary: I bought this on Black friday heavily discounted, rate 7.5/10 I love this TV, have had it for a long time. One of the earlier 3D TVs, works great in terms of 3D with video (usually played from a USB HD), or with 3D videogames (PS3 and Xbox360). I only have a few small negative things to say... Lasts 3 years

  • Summary: 3 years after buying the Samsung PN50C8000 whole entire lines of pixels started going black. I understand that out of warranty $2000 Samsung TV's are disposable but at the end of the customer service call Samsung had the GALL to tell me that NO-ONE has ever reported this problem before even after I sent their reps links to ENTIRE THREADS from CNET of people complaining about this exact same problem.

don't buy this tv

  • Summary: We bought this TV November 2010 in a bundle which included a blueray player and 3D glasses. When the tv was less than 3 years old, we noticed a black line across the top 3rd of the screen. Apparently, according to other purchasers who complained on the internet, and even at the Samsung website, it is a line of dead pixels. I contacted Samsung customer services via live chat at their website.

  • Summary: Helped my best friend Tony set this up in his office 2 years ago, and he has been extremely happy ever since. This could quite possibly be one of the finest TVs Samsung has ever made. There has never been any humming, purple haze, distorted glass, overheating nor any of that utter BS nonsense that others have reported. If there WERE any problems with it, we would've returned it long ago. Perhaps we just got a good unit.

HDMI quit working two months out of warranty

  • Summary: Well, my Samsung PN50C8000YF quit working two months out of warranty. I guess I should have been clued in by the fact that they only offer a one year warranty. None of the HDMI ports work, but everything else is fine. I can watch in HD using the component jacks, but am not able to watch 3D as this requires the HDMI port. I will never buy Samsung again.

Most expensive mistake I've ever made

  • Summary: Started ghosting immediately out of the box. Not when I paused it... it would just randomly happen. I lowered the contrast and obsessively used scroll. Nothing worked. Kept ghosting and after about 2 months, permanent burn-in. None of this was covered under the warranty. Then the audio output broke. ALSO not covered under the warranty. Then 1 year & 1 month after I bought the TV, the screen went black.
  • Pros: Lots of internet options.
  • Cons: Ghosting, burn-in, entire panel fried after just over 1 year

Great TV that failed 3 months out of warranty

  • Summary: I bought this TV a little over a year ago and was very happy with it. Great picture, features, and plenty of options. Three months after the 1 year warranty expired I started having all kinds of sparkling/erratic pixels on the screen and it is basically unwatchable now. It was powered through a power conditioner its entire life so I'm not really sure what the deal was. I guess I was just unlucky. Caveat emptor.
