Samsung PN50C8000 3D Plasma Review

Plasma TV Buying Guide
18 May 2014
  • Conclusion: If you shop it right you can get a nice package with this TV including the Blu Ray 3D player and 3D glasses. This is important because they can add another $350 and $200 respectively to your purchase. The PN50C8000 costs around $2400 from most big box retailers. But let me be clear that I would absolutely buy this TV even if I had no intention of watching any 3D content. The picture quality is great.

Samsung PN50C8000 Review

The Best Plasma TV
3 September 2012
  • Summary: Samsung PN50C8000 is a 3D plasma TV that has a lot of frills to go around and impress any buyer. Great viewing angle, amazing black levels, accurate colors, and excellent video processing capabilities, make this particular Samsung plasma TV model a very good performer in all areas, as far as image quality is concerned. It has 3D capabilities – as expected from a flagship model -, it has a wide array of internet streaming services, and very good connectivity options.
  • Pros: Really great blacks, Less glare than seen in last year’s models, Extensive entertainment options
  • Cons: Some perks, like Motion Judder Canceller and 600Hz Subfield Motion, are more marketing buzz than true add-ons, Not as slim as LCD TV models released this year

  • Conclusion: The PN50C8000 is a great 50 inch Plasma 3D TV from Samsung and brings a number of new technological innovations to the table. With enhanced image quality and black levels along with all the advantages of a plasma panel display for 3D, this is certainly a great 3D TV to consider for your home. Additionally, these plasma panels will be cheaper than similarly sized LED LCD televisions, so it is definitely a great buy for the budget conscious consumer.

Samsung PN50C8000 3D Plasma HDTV (TPV 92)

AVguide
14 July 2011
  • Excerpt: An early entrant into the 3D market with their LED edge-lit LCD models this past spring, Samsung now adds 3D plasma models to their range in two series, in 50”, 58” and 63” sizes. The main differentiation between the top end 8000 series and the slightly lower priced 7000 line is the inclusion of what Samsung calls their “Black Filter”, which enhances contrast by reducing reflected glare in high ambient light situations.

Product Review: Samsung PN50C8000 3D Plasma TV

HDTVexpert

  • Conclusion: Samsung’s PN50C8000 is definitely on the cutting edge of plasma TV design. The performance of this TV (aside from the low-level PWM noise) approaches Pioneer’s late, lamented KURO sets. It is a strong performer with excellent color quality, grayscale shading, and color temperature tracking. You’ll have plenty of contrast and deep, rich black levels to enjoy, even if the overall brightness is on the low side for a consumer TV product.

Samsung PN50C8000 3D Plasma HDTV Review

  • Conclusion: Overall, I enjoyed my time with the Samsung PN50C8000.  While 3D and black level performance were not the absolute best we've ever seen, they were excellent, exceeding the performance of most if not all LCD and LED TVs.  The C8000 series offers an impressive combination of features, performance and elegant styling sure to satisfy even the most demanding videophile.
  • Cons: A couple of glitches on Internet Apps (e.g., MLB.TV), 2D to 3D Conversion is fairly useless, Slightly more image retention than some competitive models, Black levels are impressive but not quite best in class

  • Excerpt: In this review of the PN50C8000 3D TV, we will take a look at a number of new features introduced with the PNC8000 series from Samsung. The PN50C8000 is part of Samsung’s flagship PNC8000 series of Plasma 3D TVs. After having beaten other 3D TV manufacturers to the punch by being the first to release 3D ready LED TVs to the market in 2010, Samsung is hoping to capture a larger share of the plasma TV market with its latest Plasma 3D TV offerings.

Samsung PN50C8000 50-inch 3D Plasma TV

CANADA HiFi
2 February 2011
  • Conclusion: The Samsung PN50C8000 3D plasma TV produces an excellent 3D picture and one of the better 2D pictures available today. At $2699, it is much more affordable and offers significantly better performance than any 50-inch 3D LED-backlit LCD TV that I’ve seen so far from any manufacturer. Consider its 2D to 3D conversion a bonus. Samsung has done an amazing job with its first generation 3D technology!
