Summary: I received this TV last week and so far it has been AWESOME! I would have given it 5 stars but the sound quality is a little muffled. It doesn't bother us much since we plan on hooking up a surround sound system but if you are using the TV's speakers exclusively, you may want to reconsider. Picture quality is amazing...best I've seen and I did a TON of research before deciding on this model. I was back and forth between plasma and LCD and I'm so glad I went plasma.
Summary: To reply to repete66211, this is a widespread issue. The pink hues on my PN50A550 have been getting worse and worse. Its time, after almost a year and a half, to replace this TV! I would suggest to anyone that wants to buy a good plasma, do your research and do not buy into Samsung's plasma lines.
Pros: Great picture, until it comes to very white pictures.
Cons: Bright white pictures on this TV display a pink hue that is getting worse and worse through the days of usage and Samsung, though this is a known issue, says it is not.
Summary: After 2 years, this Plasma TV cycles on/off for 5 - 10 minutes when first turned on. Samsung says they have no idea what the problem is. Referred me to "local" service who was 2 hours away. When contacted, they didn't service my area. Called Samsung back, they referred me to another service company 30 minutes away and their phone is disconnected.
Summary: If you're looking for a 50" plasma at a good price, you have found it. The picture is wonderful. The colors are very accurate. The blacks are excellent; not a Kuro, but also not $3000. I'm not sure that I would even notice the difference witout benchmarking it. I also looked at Panasonic, but any difference in picture quality is virtually imperceptible, while the $500 difference was.
Summary: We had been using our new 50" Samsung plasma TV for 5 weeks, all of the sudden while we're watching TV a loud noise comes out of it and a line starts appearing on the screen. It turned out to be a crack on the panel, but in the inside. The TV is not even mounted, we didn't touch it, didn't do anything to it and it's been sitting there for 5 weeks. A Tech sent by Samsung looked at it and specify to Samsung that there was no external damage, not a a scratch...
Summary: This was one of those sight unseen purchases based upon a glowing review in Consumer Reports. It's everything it was said to be. Razor sharp images, very nice sound from the two internal speakers (we subsequently purchased a Samsung home theater system "in a box") and more inputs/outputs than one could possibly need.
