Broke after just four years!

Al "alanw340", Amazon
28 April 2014
  • Summary: The screen recently went black. All circuit boards are ok, according to service tech. It's the screen panel that is now bad. Replacement cost in excess of $700!!! This was a VERY EXPENSIVE TV for just four years worth of use, and probably no more that 5 or 6 ours per day. My kids talked me into this as a replacement for a Sony tv that I had since the early 90's. It was working fine, but the kids convinced me that I should 'update'.

Great investment and very attractive tv set.

  • Summary: The picture quality is very good quality not grainy like other tv's I have. Everything seems to be in HD. My Husband and I didn't have to do any adjusting to get the quality up.

Excellent TV

John Lee, Amazon
23 October 2013
  • Summary: Great build quality, picture quality, and features. The physical aesthetics of the set is also just beautiful unlike many "plasticky" sets out there. It is possible to go into the firmware menu to set this TV as a higher model in the same model line to activate the feature that allows you to play videos from computers on your LAN.

VJ, Amazon
5 July 2011
  • Summary: I bought the TV in Feb 2010 and after 1.5 years the TV has major issues. Model number - LN40B630. Issue - the TV turns on and off by itself and after reading online seems to be a common problem with these Tv's

Non-glare screen is a winner

Beanpole, Amazon
7 April 2010
  • Summary: I took as long as anyone else to pick a LCD TV. The B630 has a great picture, the sound at normal volumes is ok, but the thing I really love is the non-glare coating on the screen. My previous TV was difficult to watch during the day due to glare, but the B630 looks great. I echo all the good stuff people have written and disagree with most of the listed shortcomings.

How it went for me...

sixsixtysix, Amazon
24 March 2010
  • Summary: I finally could afford to get a new tv. Getting an hd one, in this day and age, is a given. After many hours of research, I went with this one, the Samsung LN40B630. My needs were pretty specific. I needed a tv that was at least 37" to 46", had multiple hdmi inputs, and was a bit under a grand. I was also planning on using this for my computer monitor. This Samsung, does all that and more. HD from Comcast looks great most of the time, but the non-hd stuff is only so-so.

Great Purchase

Daniel C. Spears "Daniel", Amazon
14 March 2010
  • Summary: I've had this tv for about 2 months. I got it for $849 and feel that I got more than my money's worth. Excellent picture and audio. Xbox 360 is great, the PC is great, HDTV excellent. This is my first HDTV. The ability to connect the PC is what takes this TV over the top. The VGA connection is excellent. Through the PC, I've been able to use Netflix, Hulu, Boxee, etc. One thing of note for those curious about shipping. Shipping company called and scheduled a delivery.

Great tv with a few issues

Marie Garcia-Smith, Amazon
6 March 2010
  • Summary: I love the tv, it was exactly as described; however there is one major issue with the tv that people should know. This tv has the power button on the front bottom part of the tv, but it is not a button you push in; it is a button that is I think heat sensitive because you have to press power sign on the glass which is hard to see unless your looking straight at it.
