Summary: I've had this tv since 2009 and it is still running strong, never had a problem with it. Picture is crisp and clear and for $499 its a great bargain buy. I've done my research on tv's, and I buy nothing but Samsung, they go above and beyond.
Summary: I bought this from Costco. it worked for 2 yrs and started giving problem with sound after the warranty expired. Volume of this TV goes back to ZERO and Remote stop responding. Contacted the Costco and been told to contact their electronic warranty service. After talking to them they contacted Samsung. Samsung is asking to set up service technician appointment which costs me around $200.
Summary: My Samsung TV (40" LCD, LN40B5...) lasted about 9 months, then sometimes when I would turn on the set there would come only sound (no image). I still have it, it rarely turns on. Its a recurrent problem for many people if you Google around, and Samsung wont help you at all on that problem (unless they legally have to). Keep your eyes open, people. Search for it on Google before buying a TV from Samsung. Regards.
Summary: I originally bought this TV on the strength of reviews from CNET/Amazon/CR etc. My local box store had it for around 1000$ CAD, which at the time was a good deal. Current models are cheaper. I used the cable in/2 HDMI/component and occasionally the video in. I would be considered a power user and have never felt limited by my connectivity options. The picture quality is good, but not amazing considering this is an entry level TV.
Summary: The Samsung LN40B540 40" LCD Tv Is a very functional Tv clear crisp picture, easy set up, still deciding on tuner for HD antenna Tv add on HD tuners show more options, nice remote. Overall a good product.
