While a 40" TV may seem small for some people these days, I find that it is a great size and fits into most rooms without any issues. The LN40A650 has a nice feature set, tons of inputs and very good picture quality. As is the case with many TVs, the colors are boosted from the factory giving the TV an incredible first impression. Once it was calibrated correctly, it performed even better - albeit a little less dazzling. Read more
Jumping into the LN40A650 review was a blast. Over the past few weeks that I've had the LN40A650, the time in front of my TV has nearly doubled because of the HDMI connection to my PC. Samsung continues to lead the industry digital display products and it's no wonder why they are number one in the LCD market. The LN40A650 comes packed with features including multiple HDMI inputs, VGA input for older computers, ATSC tuner, LAN, InfoLink, WiseLink and Anynet. Read more
The Samsung LN40A650 LCD is not terribly different from the Samsung PN50A650 plasma. In fact they are identical in almost every regard but there were differences that were seen. Some of these differences were minor cosmetic changes, the positioning of internal speakers, the addition of a fan, but the major differences came during operation and how the HDTV handled motion and the “feel” of the picture. And this major change is resulted by the fact that we have Read more
In 1991 I purchased a Samsung VCR and a 20" television. After 9 months the VCR started eating any tape you would put into it. The television lasted 2 years and then one day it simply would not turn on. Jump forward to November 2008. Samsung HDTV's seemed to be the hot item so I purchased the LN40A650. I figured maybe they got their act together after 17 years. I was wrong. The picture started having problems in October 2011. Read more
I waited about 3 weeks before writing this review so that I had enough information to give you as I wanted to share my research.I've been searching for a nice sized LCD HDTV for my bedroom and it was down to the Sony 40" Bravia Series and the Samsung 40" 550-750 series. I went to the stores to see the product side by side. The samsung seems to be a bit sharper and clearer, although both were not bad choices at all. Read more
Still early in the ownership and use, but the design, user interface, and picture are excellent. The sound is not as I would prefer without turning on a surround system, have not heard the 750 with the woofer included, but would be interested to see if that makes a difference. Other than that, very happy with the product. Read more
I was a bit concerned about buying such a big ticket item mail-order, but have had such good experiences with newegg, that I decided to go for it. Everything went smoothly. AIT was the carrier used by newegg, and they did an excellent job of getting to my home undamaged. I live in the New England area. It took about 8 days from when the order was placed 'till I received it. Reasonable, but it seemed like forever to me....I wanted that set! Read more
TV kept turning itself on and off. Samsung sent me a firmware upgrade that made things worse. The set tuned off and could not be turned back on. So, it is definitely energy efficient. ABT was great about it. I now own a 42" Panasonic 1080p Plasma set which is totally awesome. Model TH-PZ4285u. Read more
I use the TV in my bedroom. This is an average TV and I think is good value for the money. Non HD however is not so great and the sound is real flat. Read more
Pros: Great picture. Easy set up. 120 mhz motion feature + 4 hdmi inputs + picture in picture made this stand out in its price range. The touch of color plus the glass frame border are great touches that makes it a great showpiece. Cons: not the best TV sound, and in fact it cuts out from time to time, not sure why. Read more
