It has great potential
18 August 2011
Summary: I first ordered this set in early August and I really wanted to like this television. It is easy to set up, it has a good remote, and the built-in speakers are acceptable. At first glance, the picture is very good (once taken out of "torch mode" and the "soap opera effect" has been minimized by turning off (or minimizing) the Auto Motion Plus feature. The backlit remote is nice, but not *all* of the buttons are lit.
Summary: We bought our Samsung HD TV in April 2010. It worked like a champ, with a beautiful picture and great sound--right up until a month AFTER the warranty expired when, in the middle of a program, the screen suddenly went black. The audio still worked; but after a few minutes that, too, quit. We finally called a repairman to fix a 13-month-old TV. (We have not heard back from him yet, but early indications are it will need hundreds of dollars worth of repair!
Summary: I should mention first that this is my first ever flat panel TV and the largest TV I've ever owned. And I have done research on the different types of TVs for a while so I thought I knew what I wanted. And I like this TV overall but there are some quirks that unfortunately come with LCD's. One is the viewing angle, while the picture never becomes unwatchable it does become washed out the more off center you view the TV.
