The apparently 'new' Samsung lcd TV
9 September 2012
Excerpt: At first site the television looked normal and even elegantly pleasant. But after turning on..that's when everything had changed in my mind. It was an undeniable sight as the television just sat their idly with its grainy and sometimes blury picture protruding from the screen. Even my colleagues whom i invited over that day said that it was a horrible purchase especially with its high price.
Summary: this model develops a flickering problem which starts slowly and gets worse until its constantly strobing. occured 26 months after date of purchase in my case. evidence of a known problem is all over the internet. found an online instruction to fix it, which has worked temporarily to eliminate the flicker. was a good deal for the picture at purchase, but still disappointed in the reliability.
Summary: This TV was amazing for the first 18 months until the screen suddenly became fuzzy and distorted. It comes and goes, with increasing frequency. Samsung says it's not in warranty anymore, conveniently. Buying a Sony next - TVs should last longer than 18 months.
Summary: Based on the reviews I was expecting to like this TV a lot more than I do. There's a waviness along portions of the screen that just makes some programs look weird. I've played with the picture display sizes and I can't get it to look right. In movies it looks like the tops of people's heads are floating. Sports seem to look OK. All in all for the price, it's not bad but I have to admit to being disappointed in this purchase.
Summary: I was quite excited about receiving this TV from Amazon, and indeed the picture quality, contrast and black levels were superb. The panel certainly stands up to high-quality LEDs and is among the best LCDs on the market. However, the LN46D630 also has gamebreaking - at least for me - flaws. There is a noticeable audio lag if you connect an external receiver or HDMI switch for the sound. There's about a half-second delay between video and audio output from the receiver.
Summary: One year and 5 months of viewing a nice TV. Then the flickering started! It is unexceptable for a unit this new to develop a problem like this. I did some research before I bought this TV and decided to take a chance of the odds I had of developing a problem. Well I lost. I did some post research now, and based on others having the same issue, the flicking is due to faulty parts on the power supply board. Most probably the capacitors.
Summary: I've had 2 of these tvs both purchased NEW from Amazon in hopes of getting a one that works correctly. The problem with the 1st unit was the picture was too dark even with the backlight cranked up to max and the brightness really high. The problem with the 2nd unit is a common problem among samsung hdtvs backlights interfering with the infared remotes to cable boxes, dvd players etc.
Summary: Got this TV as a replacement for my 3-year-old VIZIO 46" (neither one of them purchased on amazon, just for the record) and very disappointed with colors. They are nothing close to being realistic. I played with settings 2 days now and still cant get it right. If realistic colors is what you're looking for, don't purchase this one...
clicking sound after few years - Samsung click of DEATH!
4 June 2011
Summary: When I turn on the TV it makes clicking noise over and over again. The TV does not turn on. Unfortunately my TV is only few years old. I researched the problem on the web, and this problem looks like it is VERY common. I was planning to buy Samsung TV for my bedroom, but now I know to stay about from it.
Excerpt: the samsung- ln46c630 39.9 in. lcd tv is not that great. the picture is not crystal clear. It has a lot of lag time and some of the time the words dont fit what the people are saying on television. the sound is aweful also . you can tell that they ( walmart and sam's club) put in the cheapest speakers available.
