Samsung LE40B650 LCD TV
15 December 2010
Excerpt: Here is the review of the Samsung LE40B650 40 inch LCD TV. Obviously this is a 1080p TV with full surround. I chose to install this TV in the game room, near the pool table. Let us start with the design which I have to say that it is very …
Pros: This TV is amazing for viewing HD movies, absolutely perfect picture quality and sound make for a great experience. Not only that but this TV packs a lot of features but my favorite one in particular is being able to play .MKV files directly from a portable hard drive. Works well with a PC hooked...
Cons: No included HDMI or DVI cables/adapters. Be sure to buy some with the TV.
Summary: Glossy screen is a trade off: It shows contrast really well and images are very vivid, but if you have a well lit room, you can see reflections in blacks. *I'm a psycho for quality and had a 24" SAMSUNG before this one, knowing that it was the right brand for me.
Pros: Perfect screen- No dead pixels Aspect ratio is perfect for TV and films: Full screen HD! Comes with a great stand and remote Tons of useless features: Twitter, Yahoo! Weather, Art Gallery mode build in!
Cons: Menus are convoluted: Changing source takes a while "widgets" are pretty useless and slow responding DLNA is pointless and neutered No LED back-lighting (but you shouldn't care anyway, see below*) 120 Hz is pretty much pointless until hardware start supporting it
Summary: Excellent buy for the price (especially at Black Friday prices). Great for the display of a home theater set-up and with a good sound system will yield good results without breaking the bank.
Pros: Excellent picture quality that can be tweaked to suit your fancy in myriad ways. Excellent refresh rate and the benefits of 1080p cannot be denied.
Cons: The sound is tinny even when compared with my small, cheap, ancient PC speakers. There is also sound lag of 1/6th to 1/4th of a second from my PC to the TV. I am planning on setting up surround sound anyway so it isn't that big a deal, but if that isn't in your budget then this should be a seriou...
Summary: Great TV for the money. Couple places rate is the #2 lcd tv for the year. Nearest competition is double the price. Very Happy with how fast New Egg shipped this and how well it was packaged.
Pros: Amazing picture Great for gaming amazing second monitor for pc samsung wiselink works great you can rent blockbuster videos directly to the tv no noticeable motion blur while gaming the set looks great
Cons: @internet feature a little laggy with remote slight motion blur on certain settings (could be my cablebox)
Summary: In response to the game lag post, try turning off 120Hz mode; I saw the same thing until I turned that off. 120Hz takes some getting used to. For most things, I have it disabled because some of the effects it creates aren't appealing to me. Overall, this TV is awesome.
Pros: - Great picture quality - Excellent whites/blacks - 120Hz works great for native HD signals - HD Tuner works very well - Ethernet port - Plenty of connections - Automatic online software updates - Draws near 0.1W at idle - Nice remote
Cons: - 120Hz can create the illusion of lag while watching non 1080p signals; this can include dvds or 360 games. - Widget menu is slow to respond to commands.
Summary: Oddly this is my first Samsung product and am impressed since day one. It took 3 weeks for me to pick the LN40b650 over the B6300 and Sony v5100, it just came down to what my eyes like and that was Samsung 650. 120hz was the minimum feature I wanted in a new HDTV.
Summary: First, this is a really great display. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase. I think the menus are a bit convoluted and confusing, but not the worst I've ever seen. The picture is amazing.
Massive Positives, Big Negatives But still a winner

Summary: Just as many of you have spent plenty of time researching your purchase I did too, almost two full months. I'm sure if your anything like me you've already read the reviews so I won't bore you with stuff you already know. Secondly, I'm very particular about my electronics.
