Summary: This TV is great. Especially for the price. When I first switched over to HD, the difference is amazing. As far as this tv goes, the picture is very good. Sound is alright if you are just listening through the TV speackers. The Touch of Color is almost non-existent and seems to be a marketing ploy. The touch sensitive buttons on the actual unit are very hard to operate and they do not seem to light up making them even more difficult to find and use.
Summary: This is my first HDTV, but I've been watching HD at friends places for a few years now. This TV has everything I was looking for - a great picture, multiple HDMI inputs (for cable box, gaming console and stereo), swivel stand and top brand. For $750 I consider it a bargin. If your looking for great sound in your room, it's worth investing in a sound bar or true surround stereo system, but out-of-the-box in our small living room the sound is sufficient.
Summary: The TV is everything it's supposed to be. I upgraded from a projection SD TV so this one is fabulous. The delivery wasn't so fabulous. The so called "white glove" service was more like "brown glove". It was two days late from the scheduled delivery, nobody ever called. I managed to figure out who the delivery service was but couldn't get a human to ask about delivery.
Summary: Looks great, If you are worried, the red border is not garish or really noticeable on the frame. My son set it up by himself and adjusted the widescreen to automatic and we were up and running. We have really enjoyed the TV. The small criticism I have is that the width of the infrared receptor is small, in other words, if you leave things near the receptor, it is harder to switch channels.
Summary: I got this TV with the free Blu-ray player and HDMI cable. Ordered on 7/28, the blu-ray player arrived on 7/30 and the TV on the 8/1, using the free shipping option. TV delivered by CEVA, which I'd never heard of but they were very courteous, called the day before to set up delivery and showed up on time. I also own a Sony Bravia 40" from last year, and this TV is noticeably better in both sound and video quality.
Excerpt: The Samsung LE - 40B550 is not only Amazing in Looks it has amazing picture quality and great sound quality aswell. It is definately and improvement to the last television i had. I have it linked up to Sky HD Box, A Sony DVD recorder, An Xbox 360 and there is still pleanty of room for more with lots of HDMI and Scart sockets, plus the normal Coax sockets. There is a smart touch panel on the tv just to add to the stylish design of the television .
Summary: What's great about this tv is the picture quality whilst watching sources in HD.Colours are rich and vivid, blacks are deep with no sign of light bleeding, images are sharp and extremely detailed and there are no real signs of motion blurring. Switch to SD and it's a different story.Although colours remain vibrant and blacks are still great, images lack definition(even at the maximum sharpness setting) and signs of motion blurring become apparent.
Summary: Hi there, this is a great little set for the money, although you might want to change the picture setting to meet your own desired tastes. There are four choices of setting and these are either to bright or washed out. The picture settings need to be set up for each input and the settings aren't saved for all the inputs which is a bit annoying. Watching sky plus through the rf input is poor and side mount av using red, yellow and white is marginally better.
Summary: Very nice purchase. I sit quite close to my screen as its at the end of my bed and I must say the quality at this price point is very nice with a good HDMI input. This was tested with a digital feed from my PC and 360. My only grip is the wall mounting holes could be spaced out a bit more or have had more options on the back as for such a large tv it can be a bit unsteady compared to the mounting holes I had on my previous Toshiba.
