Summary: After doing significant research I purchased this TV in 8/2009 and paid over $700.00. Until just recently TV was working fine and I never had any concerns or issues with TV. Now I have a ghost picture and can't believe that TV doesn't work after just five years of normal viewing. I have contacted Samsung and hope they stand behind their product, in the meantime I will watch a 27 inch Mittsubushi TV I bought 20 years ago that has the same picture it did when it came out...
Summary: Samsung has always had quality products, this TV included. If you are looking for a TV that works well and looks great, look no further. I and my daughter have had Samsungs for years with literally no issues. If you do your homework, you'll find that for LCDs this TV is a good choice. For plasma, I recommend Panasonic Viera (e.g. 50"). Going forward, if you have the money, I'd get an LED - they are thinner, lighter, better picture, and cheaper to run.
Summary: I purchased this TV a year ago and it is running great. The picture is excellent. It sounds like one of the internal speakers is starting to crack, but I am getting ready to set up a home theatre system anyway. I recommend this product to anyone looking for great quality at a reasonable price.
Summary: We were very happy with the quality of the picture when we first got the TV. I think this is why this model gets such great reviews - people tend to write them right after they get the product. However, our TV stopped working after less than five months. Upon researching the issue, it turns out that it is very common for this brand to have defective capacitors in their TVs. Some older models have been recalled in the past because of this defect.
Summary: This is the second Samsung LCD TV that I have purchased from Amazon vendor themselves and from ordering, shipping, arrival there has never been a hiccup. I previous had the Samsung LN46A550 so this was a bit smaller being a LN40B530 but nothing else compromised! The brightest from Samsung LCD TVs is unbelievable. Combo-ing this with my PS3 blu-ray and HD from DirectTV I couldn't ask for a better TV.
Summary: TV was purchased less than 6 months ago. Was a "secondary" TV and was probably used a total of less than 50-75 hours. Yesterday morning started smelling a nasty electrical fire kind of a smell. TV was still working while I ran around trying to figure out where the smell was originating. In those few minutes the whole house got filled with this nasty smoke. Figured out it was the TV and unplugged it. Plugged the TV in again just to check in the evening.
Excerpt: 1st place, the overall picture of this LCD is great, but there are problems 1) the viewing angle is terrible! the search for the dead is good, but move slightly left or right and the picture begins to wash the colors and strange things happen in the brightness and contrast.
Summary: This TV is just awesome and I love every aspect of it. First of all, the exterior design is dark, sleek and really attractive, it mainly continues with the line of Samsung designs we've grown to love. The TV isn't heavy at all so it's easy to move around and set up, be it the normal stand or the wall mount. The image will blow your mind. It's just as awesome as it comes.
Summary: I also have a Samsung 58PN560 to compare to, so..... The color is great out of the box, whereas i fiddled with the plasma a lot more. The matte screen does a great job of limiting reflections in a sunny room with a big picture window. I don't know if they make many models any more with a matte screen, but I would highly recommend it. Watched half of the superbowl on the TV and noticed no streaking or blurring of motion of any kind.
