Summary: Just wanted to say I had one of these tv,s for about a week and glad I sent it back to Amazon and got the smaller 67" led dlp model. The tv worked fine but the info description at the time said it was a led powered dlp tv. After studying the manual I discovered it had a dlp bulb instead of a led bulb. I already had friends that had problems with dlp tv,s of various brands not lasting very long. Didn,t want to join in the dlp bulb problems.
Summary: I bought this TV a few years ago. Although I see reviews posting that they have had issues with the bulb, I can tell you that I have had 0 issues. This buy has been one of the best I've made. It is a HUGE quality TV with GREAT resolution. Highly recommended for someone who wants size, quality, and affordability from a brand name like Samsung.
Excerpt: well the first action that i got out ofd my tv was a broken engine inside of the shell. it took months to get somebody out to fix it from samsung. im completely dissatisfied because after all it is 72 inches and u can see everything. the bad thing about dlp is that the picture is not as vibrant as lcd or led. the screen is dark most the time and i spend lots of time trying to adjust the picture to the movie i wanna watch.
Summary: I didn't purchase this tv at Amazon but at a local store,,first the sound would die,,so I did the reset,,and changing channels is slow..after two years the dlp lamp exploded..I mean burst.. cost to repair $120.00...a year later ..started 3 months ago..while watching the tv it started powering itself off/then on again etc.. ,,I checked the cover where the lamp goes to see if any safety switches were loose..removed all and reset and tighten.
Summary: I purchased this set from Amazon 3 years ago and I have been happy. Several months ago the "white dots" started appearing. This is a known and recurrent problem with Samsung DLP sets. Unlike the lamp, which they stated had a limited life span, there was no information about this being a product that would quickly wear out. When Samsung is contacted they say "that is not one of the models with the DLP chip problem.
Summary: I realize this product isn't available any more (through amazon at least)...but wanted to add my $0.02. We paid $2400 2 years ago in September 2008. At about 18 months, we started having problems with the power shutting off after a while of viewing. It happened a few times but would come right back on. Just after 2 years though, the power started shutting off after 15 minutes of viewing time, and would not turn back on.
Summary: I fell in love with the appearance and the expected features of this television. the first TV I ever bought for myself. I worked so hard and sacrificed a lot to make this purchase come true. When the TV came the box was so big it took two days just to tear apart.I was Sooooo happy. Now, less than two years later my Samsung 72 inch DLP 3D television sits alone and the repair will cost over 1000.00. One day I was happily watching it, then poof it never turned back on.
Summary: Before buying any Samsung products, Google for Samsung DLP or LCD TV problems. You will be shocked. I have exact same problem, power-off after 3years' usage and paying $3,300 on 61" DLP TV. What did I do? Through Google help, I installed the power conditioner ($300.00) and little fan ($7.00) with my finger crossing. So far so good. But, my friend bought 56" same model as mine about the same time.
Summary: After much research (about a year) we finally decided to purchase a 61" Samsung DLP for $4,500 delivered. While we were thrilled for the first year, just shortly after that, the bulb went. Okay, no problem as this is typical, BUT just 10 months later, I shut her off for the evening and she has been dead ever since. It's been months now, and we are being told to just replace it as parts needed are too expensive and labor is astronomical. WHAT???
Summary: I purchased this television because I wanted the largest HDTV I could find for my living room and because it was a Samsung. Although it is a DLP and most technology now has progressed to LCD and LED, the picture is magnificent and I can't really see a difference. If you want one of the largest HDTV's available, I would recommend this one because you cannot beat the quality and the low, low price. I love it and am glad I took a chance and bought it.
