Summary: I purchased this TV due to my older Phillips stopped working after owning it for 10+ years. I thought a 42" TV would be a good upgrade from the 25" I had before. After a while the TV would turn on and off by itself. Then there was problems with the sound. I went to Phillips website and downloaded the update to a thumb drive and now the TV works really good.
Crisp images, Great sound but sometimes turn off on its own!

Excerpt: This big screen 42'' HDTV is the center of attention when guests walk in our house. I got a refurbished model from Buy.com and upon arrival the screen was cracking really bad, as if it was smashed along the drive. I called up customer center and they replaced it at no additional cost, free shipping as well! That's amazing how they took care of the problem.
Highly recommend the Philips 42PFL7403D 42 in. TV.

Excerpt: Costco was having a sale on tv's and we ended up choosing this one because you can view the screen clearly from all angles. I love this. I hate not being able to see the screen clearly if I am off to the side. The picture is very clear. It has High Definition capabilities as most tv's do now. We also like Philips products. We use the stand that it came with instead of mounting it on the wall. We are also able to hook our computer up to the tv and watch shows...
Excerpt: We were wanting a larger television set. Wanted a flat screen LCD. But only had a limited amount of money to spend. Shopped around and finally decided on the Phillips brand. Also decided that the 42" screen would be the ideal size for the family room. This tv is reasonably priced. And has a teriffic picture, whether using HD or not. Have had it for about 6 months now, and have had absolutely NO problems whatsoever. I wouls reccomend this tv to anyone.
Excerpt: This is a great tv at a great price. Even without HD tv, the picture quality is outstanding. The speakers are good enough even without surround sound. Neither my husband or I have to have the top of the line electronics, but this one has served us quite well. We of course did our research before purchasing a LCD tv. We've had it for over a year and have had no issues.
Summary: It's a very good looking T.V. I definitely see a better picture compared to my old 1080i. However every movie or show I watch also looks like it was shot with a crappy camera. It's an effect that was very hard to put my finger on. It was like I was watching movies that were unnaturally sharp and made the movies look fake. Then I played around with the 'demo' feature.
Summary: i just bought the philips 42pfl5704d/f7 which is almost identical to this model. both have 1080p, 120hz, 2m/s response etc... i am just writting this review because you can get that tv for so much cheaper at dell. when all was said and done (by using a few online coupons) my total amount including tax, was only $773. just throwing it out there for those who are interested in this tv.
Excellant Picture Quality, So So Onscreen Control, Poor Remote Button Layout...

Summary: Philips 42PFL7403D/27 42-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV I've purchased this TV in early August and the picture quality can't be beat in my opinion. On the other hand, the on screen controls don't measure up. For example, type in a channel number and you'll see a number that can't be much larger than one inch square show up on the screen camouflaged among the current TV picture, then once the channel changes, huge bars cover a large potion of the screen displaying all the...
