The Philips 42PFL7403D features a 42-inch Full HD LCD TV 1080p ready technology with image aspect ratio of 16:9 and a dynamic backlight system with proprietary filters built into the screen to deliver high contrast ratios of up to 29,000:1. It is designed with Philips Digital Natural Motion to eliminate the on-screen flickering of images from recorded and broadcast movie material producing uniform picture viewing. The Pixel Plus 3 HD technology also eliminates artefacts and noise from every incoming source and delivers acute and colour-intense pictures and images. The Philips 42PFL7403D also includes three HDMI inputs (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) for superb digital pictures and sound plus a USB 2.0 socket to play MP3 audio and JPEG still files into the TV. In terms of sound features, the 42PFL7403D incorporates the Virtual Dolby Digital, Incredible surround and BBE sound system plus 5-band equalizer and four stereo speakers (with total power output of 30 Watt) to give it the effect of digital surround sound. It is also equipped with a Digital Noise Reduction technology, 5-bands equalizer and Auto volume leveller. That is what sold me on it when I first saw it in Sam's Club after 3 days of shopping all of the local sources where I could view operating TV's. It was among about 15 or 20 TV's in Sam's and when I saw it I just stopped and stared. I told my wife that it has to be very expensive. It wasn't. I highly recommend this unit. I couldn't be happier with a new HDTV. I looked at the Samsung, Sony, VISIO, JVC, but fell in love with Phiilips. The picture is awesome, it is energy star and I found it at Costco.com for $899 plus shipping and they even increase the warranty to 2 years at no extra cost.
